COLOUR DUPLEX DOPPLER EVALUATION OF THE

EXTRA-CRANIAL CAROTID AND VERTEBRAL ARTERIES

B-mode and color duplex Doppler sonography of the extra cranial carotid and vertebral arteries
was performed with high frequency probe and shows following findings:

Bilateral common carotid, internal carotid, external carotid and vertebral arteries were evaluated.

Color duplex Doppler imaging revealed normal spectral waveform and velocities in bilateral
common carotid, internal carotid and external carotid.

Both vertebral arteries appear patent and show normal direction of blood flow

Peak systolic velocities obtained are as follows:-

Carotid Artery Right-Cm/Sec Left-Cm/Sec

CCA
ICA PROXIMAL ARTERY
ICA DISTAL ARTERY
ECA
VERTEBRAL ARTERY

Impression: B-mode and color duplex of extra-cranial

artery revealed:-
Normal spectral waveforms and velocities
noted in CCA,
ICA and ECA on both sides.
 Both vertebral arteries reveal antegrade
flow with normal
spectral waveform and velocities
