Banksy research
Task one
Banksy is a well known graffiti artist who is anonymous. However, there are suspicions that
he might be a man known as George Pointing. He was born in 1974 in Bristol. Banksy started
as a freehand graffiti artist in 1992-1994. He usually makes art pieces to make a point or raise
an issue. He has produced pieces of street art all over the world including the Israeli West
Bank barrier.

Task 2

The title of this piece is kid with syringe. The date of this piece is February 2008. I can see
that Banksy wanted to show that young people are taking drugs. Furthermore, it is almost
now that is normal to take drugs which is shown in the piece as it was like catching a fish.
This piece was made to show that point. It is also made next to a life saving aid which shows
contrast, as drugs can kill you when the living saving aid can save your life.

Banksy has used few media. He has used spray paint. However, it is likely he used other
media as well. The artwork is imaginative as he has made a point cleverly. Banksy has only
two layers in this piece. The white background and the black layer. The piece was created to
show that drug use should be stopped, especially by younger people. This makes me have a
good opinion of the piece as it is sending out a good message across in a smart way.
