Description IMO SIGNS

SOLAS, Chapter III, Regulation 9.2.2. requires signs to be "easily seen under emergency lighting
conditions." Regulation 9.2.3.­ ­requires symbols to be used "in accordance with the recommendations of
the Organization."

• The unique ability of Unitor Photo luminescent signs to illuminate immediately if power loss occurs
will greatly assist personnel in the location of emergency equipment.
• IMO Regulations recommend that the location of emergency equipment, assembly and embarkation stations should be plainly
­indicated by the use of appropriate symbols.
• MCS/CIRC.777 states that "Assembly Station" has the same meaning as "Muster Station".
• Letters or numbers should be used to identify assembly or embarkation stations.
• The station letter or number should be placed on the right hand side of the safety sign, and should be compatible in its
­dimensions.
• Signs shown in the appropriate sequence can be displayed at the Coxswain's position in a totally enclosed lifeboat, as a reminder
of the sequence of actions which should take place during the launching of a lifeboat.
• Symbols should be used inside survival craft adjacent to the relevant control or function to which they refer.

embarkation stations and that it should be placed on the right hand side

SOLAS Tape

Description SOLAS Tape

Barwil Unitor has 2 types of SOLAS tape, 1 type only approved according SOLAS
and 1 type approved with the MED (Wheelmark)
Unitor Solas Retro Reflective Tape MED approved, is intended for reflectorizing
Solas life support equipment such as life vests, jackets, and rafts.
It conforms to, IMO Res. A.658 (16) and meets U.S. Coast Guard specification
46 CFR Part 164, Subpart 164.018/5/0. It is approved by numerous national
authorities around the globe including the Wheel Mark and Bureau Veritas.
Unitor Solas Tape is an encapsulated lens type sheeting with a flexible and highly
transparent plastic film. Our tape has been specially designed for the marine
industry. It ensures long durability, high brightness and antidelamination. All
products are comprised of an encapsulated lens optical design that provides high
reflectivity over a wide range of entrance angles, whether dry or wet. All products
are silver in color under daytime viewing conditions and reflect a bright white.
