Firmware upgrade procedure for the new Kenwood radios:
1) Extract the firmware files to a location on your hard drive.
2) Ensure the radio to de updated has “Firmware Programming” enabled in the FPU (under “Optional Features -> “Common Page 2”). 3) Start the application Fpro (default install location is the same as the FPU, “C:\Program Files\Kenwood Fpu\KPG95D”) 4) Load the firmware you wish to upload to the radio by clicking on the folder icon and browsing to the location where you extracted the firmware files. 5) Set the desired Com port and baud rate. 6) Press and hold the PTT and Side 3 Button, switch the radio power on, release the Side 3 button. (radio should display “Program” and a baud rate. To change the baud rate use the concentric switch. A = 115.2, B = 57.6 and C = 19.2) 7) Set baud rate to match the baud rate selected in the Fpro application. 8) Connect the radio to the computer in the same fashion as done for programming. 9) Press the write button in the Fpro application. 10) Once the write completes Fpro will indicate so. The radio should display the checksum of the new firmware on the display. 11) Power cycle the radio and enjoy.
