Subject
The subject of a sentence is that noun, pronoun, or phrase or clause about which the
sentence makes a statement.
Linking verb
Verbs that describe a sensory experience (look, smell, taste, feel, sound) or a state of
being (be, become, remain, seem). To complete their meaning, they need a predicate adjective or
a predicate noun.
Predicate
a word or combination of words, including the verb, objects, or phrases governed
by the verb that make up one of the two main parts of a sentence
