OEC 2011 briefing

Objectives:
• Outdoor education and exposure

• Character building

• Develop camaraderie among J1’s and J2’s

• Selection trials
General information:
• Date: 11th to 13th March (Friday to Sunday)

• Duration: 3 days 2 nights

• Venues: Pulau Ubin and East Coast Park

• Assembly Point: Gallery steps at 5pm

• Dismissal Point: ECP Campsite G at 12pm


Camp outline:
Day 1:
• Outdoor cooking and tent pitching at Pulau Ubin
• Nightwalk

Day 2:
• Environmental walk at Pulau Ubin
• Trekking to East Coast Park
• Outdoor cooking and tent pitching at East Coast Park
• Night games

Day 3:
• Physical training session
• Break camp at East Coast Park
Camp rules:
• Handphones are to be surrendered before the camp
• Approach the teachers if there is any urgent phone calls to be made
• Bring all items stated in the packing list
• Bring own personal medication
• There will be a check on all your items before you set off for the
camp
• Be responsible for your own belongings
Camp rules:
• Be punctual
• Always stay in your groups
• Inform your group leaders/members when leaving the group
• Listen and adhere to instructions
• No purchasing of food/items unless permission is granted
• Keep the environment clean

What bag should you bring?


• Haversack (40 – 60 litres)
• Do not bring sling bags or any other
types of bag
• Choose a haversack appropriate for
your torso length
• Ensure that it has a comfortable grip
around your hips

How do you ensure you are packing efficiently?

• Pack your items tightly together

• Sort your items into categories to ensure you can find them easily

• Bundle your clothes together and place them in air-tight ziploc bags
to waterproof it

• Bring small sized toiletries
