Interview Preparation (HR)

1. Present Industry / market scenario (Recession, GDP, Industrial productivity,

Trimming of manpower by industries)
2. Bond, conveyance, Location should not be a problem.
3. Dressing while going for interview
4. Salary expectation (Buyers / Sellers market example) employers want to know
the commitment by saying 4k, 5k salary
5. Situation Re-action test of engineers: ( example of 2yrs to 3 yrs bond in focus
energy, some employers say No salary will be given etc)
6. Ethical values / corporate values ( ex: one engineer left laptop in the company
& left due to stress, other took mobile & instruments of the company)
7. Attitude is the most important for the companies today
8. Sales / Marketing/Service in automation is basically application engineering
as PLC is not a product it is a concept /system)
9. When can you join ( Ex: will ask papa, will ask friend, will ask friend’s friend
etc) good answer is: what about now sir, when you want me to join sir etc. It
shows your willingness eagerness to join the particular company)
10. If you don’t know some questions do not be defensive. Politely say I shall find
the answer & tell you. As a fresher nobody expects you to know everything.
11. Students have a habit of asking, anyone (ABCD) in the company, he/she is
going for the interview: how is the company etc. the answers they get is
company is not good, salary is less etc. If such is the company why he
(ABCD) is working there. They have sense of insecurity when any interview
goes on in the company.
12. Within the group, going for interview, some clever students tend to
demoralize others by saying “my friend is working in this company, he is not
getting salary in time, he works till 11 pm, no holidays etc.” (Example of 3
boys going for interview). Don’t do that and if someone does, be aware.
13. Don’t be Angry, Anger has NO LIMITS.......
A man was polishing his new car, his 4 yr old son picked a
stone & scratched lines on the side of the car.

In anger, the man took the child's hand & hit it many
times, not realizing he was using a wrench.

The child lost all his fingers due to multiple fractures.

At the hospital, with painful eyes, he asked his
father "Dad when will my fingers grow back?"
Man was so hurt and speechless. He went back to car and
kicked it a lot of times.

Devastated by his own actions...... sitting in front of that

car ..... he looked at the scratches, child had written
"LOVE YOU DAD".

The next day that man committed suicide. . .

14. Parents pressure (As an engineer, now onwards learn to manage pressure,
stress and start taking decisions as you are the best decision maker for
yourself. Life is not so easy in plants).
Start Taking decisions
“What is the secret of your success?” a reporter asked a Bank President.
“Two Words”
“ And what are they?”
“RIGHT DECISIONS”
“And how do you make right decision?”
“One Word”
“And sir what is that?”
“EXPERIENCE”
“And how do you get experience?”
“Two Words.”
“ And what are they?”
“WRONG DECISIONS”

“Be thankful for your mistakes. They will teach you valuable
lessons.”

16. Many times great engineering solutions are not needed for some problems
although it may initially appear so. Once a truck laden with goods stuck under
a pass bridge. Now many expert engineers gathered around at the site and
many brainstorming sessions were undertaken. Many solutions were discussed
and many were considered problematic.

Time went by, and just an ordinary guy with no qualifications was standing
little away with an all knowing smile. One of the Engineers called him and
asked him to suggest solution.

He told to let out little air from the tyres. !!! to surprise of all the truck came
down by few centimeters and passed the underpass.
Common sense prevails many times than qualified brains !!!!

17. AttitudeThere was a man who made a living by selling balloons

at a fair. He had all colours including, red, yellow, blue & green.
Whenever sale was slow, he would release a helium-filled balloon
into the air. When the children saw it go up, they all wanted to
buy one. They would come up to him, buy a balloon, and his sales
would go up again. He continued this process all day.

One day, he felt someone tugging at his jacket. He turned around

and saw a little boy who asked, ”If you release a black balloon,
would that also fly?” Moved By the boy’s concern, the man replied
with empathy, ”Son, it is not the colour of the balloon, it is
what is inside that makes it go up”.

The same thing applies to our lives. It is what is inside us

that counts. The thing inside of us that makes us go up in life
is our ATTITUDE.
18. The Difference bet Focusing on Problems and Focusing on Solutions

When NASA began the launch of astronauts into space, they found out that
the pens wouldn't work at zero gravity (ink won't flow down to the
writing surface).

To solve this problem, it took them one decade and $12 million. They
developed a pen that worked at zero gravity, upside down, underwater, in
practically any surface including crystal and in a temperature range
from below freezing to over 300 degrees C.

And what did the Russians do...?? They used a Pencil!!!*

19. Importance of time time is like a river, you can not

touch the same water again, because the flow that has passed
will not pass again.
20 The Difference Between Winning and Losing
Hanging on, persevering,
WINNING
Letting go, giving up easily,
LOSING

Accepting responsibility for your actions,

WINNING
Always having an excuse for your actions,
LOSING

Taking the initiative,

WINNING
Waiting to be told what to do,
LOSING

Knowing what you want and setting goals to achieve

it,
WINNING
Wishing for things, but taking no action,
LOSING
