STATEMENT FROM THE COUNTY ATTORNEY

George Marlin’s irresponsible statement of this date is evidence that he is a hypocritical

narcissist.

I am certain that Judith Kaye is embarrassed by her client’s gratuitous attack on the
County’s elected government and her colleagues who are part of a most respected Long Island law
firm.

Mr. Marlin’s statements come as no surprise. This is because Long Island is one of the
subjects Mr. Marlin knows nothing about.

George Marlin purports to be a fiscal conservative but he chose to bring an extravagantly

expensive Manhattan law firm to Nassau County as he spent our tax dollars in the tradition of
limousine liberals. If the merits of NIFA’s case were so compelling there was no need to hire the
Former Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals at nearly one-thousand dollars per hour.

Mr. Marlin has opined that running the government by unelected authorities exploiting
“financial gimmicks” as they promote the agendas of “leftist social engineers” was a vehicle to
impose former Governor Spitzer’s will on New York taxpayers while avoiding “interference from
the voters or the . . . legislature.”1

He believed this until he had the opportunity to impose his will on the taxpayers of Nassau
County. Now that he is part of an unelected authority the rules have changed. He has found a
way that is better than democracy.

Ed Mangano hailed certain actions by NIFA as “true cooperation.” He has met with and
offered to work with Mr. Stack. Mr. Marlin does not want cooperation. He wants capitulation.

We will not be bullied by such a petty man who could never be elected to anything.
