ABC NIGHT SPEECH by keken 

To the people of Isabel …. Good evening  hehehehhehe.

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you all to our ABC Night 2011. In preparation for our forthcoming
Isabel Town Fiesta, we have been given the chance to gather round every year to show support and
gratitude to the town that has been generous to us. I would like to take this opportunity to express my
sincerest thanks to our Mayor, for honoring us by taking his busy time to be here with us, to all the
Barangay Official who continuously show their support and to all the people who helped organize this
event.

UNITY. The state of being undivided – Quoting the famous philosopher Mahatma Gandhi -- “Unity to be
real must stand the severest strain without breaking”. The past year had been quite a journey for all of us
– deadlines, projects, the Mayoral elections, changes in some of our town officials and of course, the
ABC election. Learning experiences and lessons from the past allows us to walk boldly without
stumbling. It allows us to build a personal testimony on solid bedrock of faith, perseverance and integrity.
The New Year calls for a fresh start -- leaving all doubts and resentments behind and believing in
possibilities. We must all learn by heart that no great objective can be attained by lone individuals for the
reason that several people have to strive together to achieve even the simplest things. Whenever people
work together, it is inevitable that various disagreements and grievances should arise. Sometimes one will
receive a smaller share of the credit, while another receives a larger portion. Some attain to high positions
while others have to be satisfied with lower ranks. At times, it is some ill-considered action which seems
to hurt another's interests.

There is only one practical solution in such situation. The Christmas spirit still lingers around us. Let us
grasp that chance in turning ourselves into self-correcting individuals. Let us resolve within ourselves the
antipathy we feel towards another. The grudges which we harbor must be forgotten – only by then will we
be able to work and struggle together in making our Isabel as exquisite as it has already been.

Let us do it together. We’ve heard what we have to do. We’ve seen what we need to do. Now is the time
to do it, and, together, we can do it.” Good evening. 
