Installation Guide for ANSYS 12 
A few easy steps to install ANSYS 12 on your computer 
 
Logon to ANSYS Customer Portal: http://www1.ansys.com/customer/ 
Download version 12  
 
After downloading the image file, burn it on a DVD 
 
To install ANSYS v12 on your License Server (this MUST be done) 
 
Insert the DVD in your License server, the following frame will be shown: 
Please Note! This must be done directly on your license server and NOT from a client. 
 

 
 
 
1. Press Install Required Prerequisites to install the required software. 
2. A list of product that’s going to be installed shows up, just press ok 
3. This will install the required software and if you don’t have any of them it will require a 
reboot. 
4. You may get up an error message (Setup error) on .NET Framework, this should be 
ignored, the reason for this is that have a newer version on your computer. 
 
To upgrade your license manager follow these steps (make sure you have your License key 
available).  
5. Press Install ANSYS, inc. License manager. 
6. Accept the license agreement, press next. 
7. Choose platform, if your platform does not show up, you have the wrong installation 
file, start from the beginning and download another platform. 
8. Press next a couple of time so the license manager will install. 
9. Accept the default value and complete the installation.

To install ANSYS v12 on your client computer 
 
1. Insert the DVD in your computer, the following frame will be shown: 
 

 
 
 
2. Press Install Required Prerequisites to install the required software. 
3. A list of product that’s going to be installed shows up, just press ok 
4. This will install the required software and if you don’t have any of them it will require a 
reboot.

ignored, the reason for this is that have a newer version on your computer. 
6. Press Install ANSYS, inc. Product 
7. Accept the license agreement. 
8. Select platform, if your platform isn’t there you have downloaded the wrong DVD 
image, start from the beginning and download another platform. 
9. Accept and press next the default installation directory. 
10. A product list is shown, unmark what you don’t want to install. Warning!! If you don’t 
unmark Pro/Engineer and Unigraphics on both places the installation will be stopped 
unless of course you have these products.

11. Press next to continue 
12. If you have selected Pro/ENGINEER or Unigraphics you need to enter information about 
that in next window. 
13. The installation will now be verified, if so press next.

14. And next again 

 
15. Now ANSYS will start to install.

16. Installation of ANSYS is now completed, press next and the licensing will begin. 

 
17. Press exit 

 
18. Installation is complete, press next, (if you wish to fill‐in the survey Press next) then 
Press finish  
19. Installation is complete and you should be able to run ANSYS 12.
