A PROPOSAL TO MONITOR THE IN AND OUT OF STUDENTS USING

BAR CODING SYSTEM

Bar coding system nowadays is very accessible. Even in small businesses bar coding
system is being used. Companies prefer the use of bar coding system to monitor their workers
and for inventory purposes.

Bar coding system uses an electronic device for reading bar codes called the bar code
reader or the bar code scanner. Bar code reader is a software solution intended to bar codes and
eliminates the possibility of error such as loss of documents in the database. It consists of a light
source, a lens and a light sensor translating optical impulses into electronic ones. Bar code reader
contains decoder circuit analyzing the bar codes image data provided by the sensor and sending
the bar codes content to the scanners output port. Bar code is an optical machine-readable
representation of data about the object or person to which it attaches by varying the widths and
spacing of the parallel lines scanned by the bar code reader or bar code scanner.

The bar coding system would help the school to monitor the login and logout of students
during school hours and will be recorded. Parents would be informed through a mail from the
school of their children’s login and logout records during the end of the month to monitor if they
were entering the school at the time of their classes to avoid absences without the parents
consent. It would also avoid other person to easily enter the school without important
transactions or authorization from the school.

Other benefits if this bar coding system: faster check-in for students, reduce typing errors
for login’s, increase level of service for students, parents and personnel’s satisfaction, and
increase security level by saving document image in databases.
