1.INTRODUCTION

Introducing the scan-sign system, an innovation method

reshaping campus attendance. This user-friendly web system not
only simplifies attendance, but also swiftly identifies students,
ensuring accuracy. Beyond mere attendance, it captures and
manages valuable student information, fostering a data-driven
education environment, with real-time updates and a streamlined
interface, it stands as a cutting-edge solution for modern campuses.
In a QR code-based attendance system, each student is assigned a
unique QR code that contains their personal information such as
name, id number and other relevant data. The admin generates a
QR code for each class session, which is displayed on a screen of
their smartphones. The students can scan the given QR code using
their smartphones, which automatically logs their attendance in the
system.
Systems for school attendance that use QR
codes provide a number of benefits over older
technologies. Since the data is automatically
recorded in real-time that is usually extremely
accurate and reliable. By doing this, the chance of
mistakes and inaccuracies in recording and keeping
is eliminated. Additionally, as the full process of
online attendance using QR code may be finished in
a matter of seconds, QR code-based systems are
significantly faster and more effective than
conventional techniques. Both teachers and students
benefit from time savings, which enables them to
concentrate on more crucial duties.
Another significant advantage of QR code-
based attendance systems is the ability to easily
retrieve and analyze attendance data. The system
generates detailed reports on student attendance,
which can be used to identify patterns, track
progress, and make informed decisions about
academic performance. This data can also be
integrated with other educational software, such as
learning management systems (LMS) and student
information systems (SIS), to provide a more
comprehensive view of student performance.
Moreover, QR code-based attendance
systems are highly secure and confidential. The
personal information of students is encrypted and
stored in a secure database, which can only be
accessed by authorized personnel. This ensures that
sensitive data is protected from unauthorized access
or misuse.

1.5 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The traditional methods of taking attendance in
schools and universities have been time-consuming,
error-prone, and inefficient. The manual process of
marking attendance on registers, using attendance sheets
has led to delays, and inconvenience for both teachers
and students. This has resulted in a lack of real-time data
on attendance, making it challenging to analyze student
performance and identify patterns. Moreover, the process
of collecting and analyzing attendance data is often
laborious and time-consuming, leading to delays in
decision-making and administrative tasks. Therefore,
there is a need for a more efficient, accurate, and secure
attendance system that can address these issues and
provide valuable data for analysis. This is where the scan-
sign system with its QR code-based attendance system
comes in as a potential solution to this problem.

1.6 OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY

1.6.1 General Objectives

At Scan Sign, our mission is to revolutionize the way

schools and universities manage attendance. We
understand the challenges associated with traditional
attendance methods, such as manual systems that lead
to errors, missing data, and time-consuming processes.
Our QR code-based attendance system aims to address
these issues by providing a user-friendly, accurate, and
secure solution. With Scan Sign, we're committed to
simplifying the attendance process, reducing errors,
providing real-time data, and facilitating analysis of
student performance. Our goal is to improve efficiency,
save time, and enhance the overall academic experience
for students and teachers alike. It's not just about marking
attendance; it's about giving both students and admins a
better view from the hassles and making decisions
smarter with attendance data that is quicker and more
accurate.

1.6.2 Specific Objectives

Fewer Mistakes:

● Eliminate double names and missing data by using

unique QR codes for each student, which cannot be

duplicated or lost.

● Prevent errors in attendance-taking by scanning the

QR codes using a mobile device or a dedicated

scanner, which automatically records the student's

presence or absence.

● Provide real-time updates of attendance status to

teachers and admins, reducing the need for manual

reconciliation and minimizing discrepancies.

Fast Info for Better Decisions:

● Generate attendance reports with just a few clicks,

providing detailed insights into student attendance

patterns and trends.

● Enable teachers to view individual student

attendance records, helping them identify absences

and late arrivals that may require follow-up action.

School to be techy:
● Encourage schools to adopt modern technology

solutions that enhance the learning experience and

improve efficiency.

● Promote the use of mobile devices and scanners as

a convenient and cost-effective alternative to

traditional attendance methods, such as manual

registers or biometric systems.

● Foster a culture of innovation and technological

literacy among students and teachers, preparing

them for the demands of the digital age.
