Project Context

In this context, the researchers sought to perform the study in order to increase

awareness of the attendance tracking system's capabilities via the use of a QR code.

Furthermore, it is aimed to ascertain the QR code attendance tracking system's degree of

acceptance as viewed by certain teachers-users and workers.Thus, this research is oriented

around evidence-based practice using this kind of computer system, with a focus on continual

development and recommendations for how this type of system may be modified for use in a

classroom setting.

This system will reduce manual work and avoid redundant data. By maintaining the

attendance manually, efficient reports can not be generated. The system can generate an

efficient weekly, consolidated report based on the attendance. As the attendance is

maintained in registers, it has been a tough task for admin and staff to maintain for a long

time. Instead, the software can keep and retrieve the information when needed. The

Attendance Management System is fundamentally composed of two components that ensure

its correct operation: The Admin module provides the ability to establish new faculty and

student records. Users have the ability to track their own attendance and produce data on a

daily basis. Personnel attendance reports may be generated by providing employee

information and schedules. The system should be built in such a manner that access to certain

modules should be restricted to authorized users. Only administrators should be able to

modify records. The user should always be in command of the program, not the other way
around. The user interface should be consistent, allowing the user to navigate the program

easily and quickly.

Purpose and Description

The project was conducted in order to have a more secure, digital and easy way of

attendance monitoring on the students of the school. Lessen the time and effort to write down

those needed information by developing a software project called QR code Attendance

Monitoring System with SMS notification. Attendance management system is crucial for any

schools and organization. Allows to track how regular the students are going to school and

also to know about the student information and status while in school. Manual attendance

monitoring system has a little risk in terms of writing down information, the accuracy of time

of arrival and departure and misinformation may lead to misunderstanding on what the exact

information is.

Once developed, QR Attendance Monitoring System will automatically record the

information of the student of the school and lessen the mistakes, time effort and

misinformation getting in the manual attendance monitoring system and it will give the

following significance particularly in the following :

● Student.

There is no waste of time for the student in an attendance area or to write the needed

information and avoid being late because all of their information is recorded in the

generated QR code and help them to be more productive in other aspects. They can

monitor how many absences they have and avoid causing them trouble in absences.
 Even if they forgot their ID they can use their mobile phone for attendance

monitoring.

● Teacher

Accuracy of monitoring the attendance in the manual monitoring system is one of the

most common problems for the teacher because they have a lot of work to do rather

than to monitor. This system will help them to have more accurate records of the

students who attend their class and who are the students that are always cutting to

their class because they can check if the student records on the system what time they

are in and when they are out. They have a proof at the end of the semester in terms of

monitoring the attendance in the class.

● Plmar Organization

In this time being adoptive in terms of technology is one of the most important things

that an organization will make because in this century being technology inclined

organization and school may be one of the advantages. Adopting this QR-Code

attendance monitoring system will help the plmar organization having an Online

system that may help them be more efficient and attractive to those students who

want to study college and open the opportunity to other organizations to adopt online

things.

● Future Researchers

Once this system is developed future researchers can use this as a reference if they

want to build a system like this QR attendance monitoring system and will help them

to guide their study of what they need to do and what they need to accomplish to have

a system like this.

 This project will be the way of adopting a modernized system in the Pamantasan ng

Lungsod ng Marikina and it may help the whole school organization not just to the students

but also to the faculties and employees in terms of attendance management and monitoring.

This study may help other branches of school to upgrade also in an online and modernized

way.

Objective

The main purpose of this study is to help Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Marikina to

monitor and verify the attendance of their students. Specifically this study aims to:

1. Design and developed a Web-based Attendance Monitoring System that is capable of:

a. Implementing a better technology method of verifying attendance by

providing each student with their own QR code.

b. Verifying the authenticity of students via the use of identity cards linked with

QR code technology.

c. Notifying parents through text messages of their children's arrival and

departure from school.

d. To determine the precise number of students entering school.

2. Monitor and Updating student information in the Attendance Monitoring System.

3. To keep an eye out for students who may commit attendance issues (ex:cutting class).
Scope and Limitation

The QR-Code Attendance Monitoring System with SMS notification was developed

to monitor the information of the student, record the information, time in and time out of the

student, class and section that they belong to and manage the attendance of all the students in

university. This system may produce a record to monitor and verify the student's status at the

school, including whether the student is present or absent, as well as if the student is leaving

the class early. This study of attendance monitoring system shall exclude any guests or

outsiders who may enter the school facility, as well as the faculty and staff of PLMAR.

Additionally, the urgent or emergency reasons for a student's absence are still under

consideration, as those are emergencies and no one knows when they will occur. The scope

of this project is mostly focused on tracking attendance, messaging students' parents,

documenting how many kids attend school and how many days the student is missing, and

storing and retrieving student data in the system.
