detection of herpes simplex virus by DNA in situ sandwich hybridiza-
tion: a rapid, formamide-free, random oligomer-enhanced method. Nuc
Acids Res., 20, 1149-1150. (1992)
Background:
Many reagents are available for labeling nucleic acids with bio-
tin. Biotin-CE Phosphoramidite can add multiple biotins to either
the 3’ or 5’ end of an oligonucleotide. Similarly, Biotin-TEG-CE
Phosphoramidite adds biotin to the 3’ and 5’- ends of an oligo.
5’-Biotin-CE Phosphoramidite and 5’-Biotin-CE Phosphoramid-
ite II can only add biotin to the 5’-end while 3’-Biotin CPG only
works at the 3’-end. For internal addition of biotin, Biotin-dT-CE
Phosphoramidite is suggested.
