GLOBAL WARMING
INTRODUCTION
• GLOBAL WARMING
-Gradual increase in the earth’s temperature that
causes increase in levels of greenhouse gases (
CO2),Chlorofluorocarbons (cfs), methane,
nitrous oxide.
-These are transparent to visible light but absorbs
infrared radiation
-These gases permit passage of sunlight to the
earth’s surface.
DIAGRAM MECHANISM..
FIGURE 1

Due to rapid progress made by mankind over the last 100 years, electricity is the chief
source of energy for carrying out all our work - whether it is industrial work or commercial
work or residential work.

In the United States most of the electricity is generated by burning fossil fuels such as
coal, oil or natural gas.
Figure 2
Figure 3 below shows the breakup of the different sectors of
consumers utilizing electrical power during the 50 years (1950 -
2000) in the US.
EFFECTS TO HUMAN & WORLD
• It increases in the earth’s surface temperature
would adversely affect our environment including
the quality of air, water and our health.
• Can increase greenhouse gases
( CO2),Chlorofluorocarbons (cfs), methane,
nitrous oxide.
• Can cause destruction of ozone layer
-Stratospheric ozone provides a great benefit to
life on earth.
-Ozone layer filters out 99%of the sun’s harmful uv
radiation.
Continued….
-Without this protective filter,uv radiation would
reach the earth’s surface at dangerous high
levels causing increased rates of skin
cancers,eye problems,increase rate of
mutations(genetic changes )&disruption of the
oceanic food chain.
-Thinning of ozone layer has been found over the
polar regions and in northern mid –latitudes.
