SCHOOL DATA

State School with 620 students and 63 teachers. Students aged from 12 to 18. Can take GCSE exams at 16 and, exceptionally al 18. They can take A level qualifications too, at 18. The school is open from 8,30 am to 20,30h. Extra-curricular activities in the afternoon.

WHY I GOT INVOLVED IN THE PROJECT ?

Working on European Projects has always interested me for different reasons. It is a challenge as these students are not motivated with school matters. Sharing teaching and learning experience to improve approaches. Regarding students: It gives them an opportunity to have extracurricular experiences. They get motivated wit the programme of mobility. Cooperative learning helps students to contribute to the group success. Students get more responsible about the task: they are part of a group. Facilitate success to students with low selfesteem.

CHARACTERISTCS OF THE GROUP INVOLVED

I am the class teacher of the group. Thirteen students , aged 16 an 17. Different nationalities: Ecuador, Colombia, Dominican Republic,, Paraguay, Philipines, Chine, Algerie and 2 from Spain. They came to Spain from eight to three years ago. They are in a two years educational programme called Diversificacin. They are disadventaged students : with learning difficulties and some at risk of social exclusion

About the PROGRAMME OF DIVERSIFICACIN

It is witin the educational system compulsory and free of charge. The curriculum is reduced and integrated. The aim on the Programme is to give support and help students with learning difficulties to get de GCSE. It goes on for two years. Groups are reduced to 15 students maximum.

HOW I ORGANISED THE PROJECT AL SCHOOL?

I presented the Project to the Headmistress to be approved. I ask for collaboraion to the English, Technology, an Theatre teachers. I spread the Project in the school. I decided to work one hour a week in Communication skills and two hours in Theatre.

HOW I ORGANISED the project


WITH STUDENTS:

We started working in november 2010. In Theatre,2h/week, they have to report at the end of the session what they have done. PORTFOLIO. In creative writing and speaking, 1h/week, keep the works in the PORTFOLIO. We provided them with an e-mail address and created a list for the Project. We start organising the BLOG.

WHERE ARE WE SO FAR

In Theatre, two hours a week: Voice Training Memorizing a text Improvisation performances Make up Body Language Written reviews al the end of the lesson. Communication skills, one hour/week at school and homework: Writing from A to Z (Adventure, Biografy, Chronicle, Description, Epitaph, Ghotic story), Speaking ( Introducing themselves, poetry reading, telling a story, discussion games).

ICT (video, taking pictures, writing e-mails to the list, looking for information about the countries in the Project)

IMPACT OF THE PROJECT ON THE CURRICULUM

In English Language: They improve speaking and writing skills. English lessons become more motivating because they work with a goal.

In Spanish Language: They learn how to use specific patterns to express ideas and feelings. They have to be more careful with oral language explanations to their classmates. when give

In Theatre: Their selfesteem rises because they face difficulties that can cope with.

CONCLUSION

The Proyect is beeing an interesting learning and teaching experience. Students are learning everything by doing it. The methodology used in most of the activities is cooperative learning. The students image within the school has improved. Creativity is incorporated into the classroom.
