The document summarizes an experiment to demonstrate that oxygen is produced during photosynthesis. It describes placing branches of an aquatic plant like hydrilla in a beaker of water, covering it with an inverted funnel and test tube. Baking soda is added to the test tube water. When the apparatus is placed in sunlight, a gas collects in the test tube, showing that oxygen is evolved as a byproduct of photosynthesis during the reaction between carbon dioxide, water and sunlight catalyzed by chlorophyll in the plant leaves.

Photosynthesis- The green plants synthesize glucose, starch in presence of sunlight by absorbing water and minerals from soil and carbon dioxide from air. This process is called Photosynthesis. photosynthesis requires following four substances: 1. Carbon dioxide Gas 2. Water 3. Chlorophyl 4. Sunlight By the next experiment it can be proved that oxygen (o2) is evolved during Photosynthesis. Experiment:- In a beaker filled with water, place some branches of an aquatic plant like hydrilla. Put an inverted funnel over these branches of plant and place an inverted test tube filled with water over the inverted funnel. Add some quantity of baking soda into the water. Then place the whole apparatus in sunlight. After some time a gas will start collecting in the test tube.
