I have assessed the health condition of the above patient. The above had sustained fractures to her left medial malleolus, distal 3rd left fibula and osteochondritis of the left ankle and left knee joint about 6 months ago. She has been receiving treatment from the orthopaedic clinic in Kajang Hospital. I understand that she has taken a total of about 6 months leave including Medical Leave, MCs and Non Pay Leave. After examining her left foot, I found she still has dependant oedema or swelling due to gravity on standing and/or sitting. This is due to the poor venous blood return to the heart due to malalignment of the lymphatic system due to the injury and the trauma. I have explained to her that the swelling will be there for a few years and she has agreed with me that the swelling

subsided after sleeping especially in the morning. She does feel any pain except that she feels her skin on her Left foot feels stretched On the mental side, I have assured her that her condition will not worsen and that the swelling will be there for some time and as long as she has no pain she has nothing to worry about. She thinks she can cope if she starts working again. She is eager to get back to work as from her previous record she has been a good worker with no Mcs for 5 years in her previous employment. She has requested for a few more days leave as she has moved into her new house. She will report back to work on next Monday 26th of September 2011.Her only request is that she be allowed to use slippers or sandals when working as her left foot is too big to wear shoes.
