Im Taking an Online Class, Now What?

General Expectations
Have basic computer skills. At a minimum you should be able to use email, perform web searches and use M i c r o s o f t O ff i c e . L o g i n D a i l y. O n l i n e c o u r s e s are NOT self-paced and require significant hours of participation. Just like face to face courses, you will be dropped if you do not participate. Keep BACKUP COPIES of all assignments. Communicate with your i n s t r u c t o r. D o n ' t b e a f r a i d t o ask questions.

1.Check your SMCC email account.


All official course and college instructions will be sent to your SMCC email account. Yo u a c c e s s y o u r S M C C e m a i l v i a t h e S M C C website. Click on MYSMCC to access the portal and email.

Not all online courses use Blackboard. The week prior to the start of the course your instructor will send an email to your SMCC email account with the location of your online course.

3.Check to make sure you can access your course.


A couple of days prior to the start of the course, please attempt to log into the course. It will take up to 24 hours after course registration to be entered into the online course.
