1915 London Pact Italy entered WWI and certain arrangements were secretly made:

Italy was promised:

Protectorate over Albania Valona (important Albanian city1) Western part of Duchy of Carniola (region of Slovenia) Northern Dalmatia (croatian peninsula) Dodecanese (greek archipelago)

Serbia was promised:

Bosnia and Herzegovina Syrmia (area on the Croatia-Serbia boarder) Baka (area on the Hungary-Serbia boarder) Slavonia (eastern Croatia) Territory in southern Dalmatia (including Peljesac peninsula, port split, Brazza island)

Montenegro was promised:

Northern part of Albanian coast (to Shengjin) Territory in southern Dalmatia (including Dubrovnik)

There are references to current political situation in the parentheses in order to help to locate various areas on the map. No of the promises made by entente to Italy in the Balkan matter were fulfilled after the war. That was a major reason of Italian frustration barely after the war. It also stimulated the growth of nationalistic moods there.

Albania proclaimed independence there in 1912
