Telecommunication survey reflection

How does PC gaming effect our lifes today?

Part 1:
At the start of this assessment our group started to brainstorm ideas for our main question, considering we like to play PC games we all decided to go with that theme. After about 5 minutes we came up with the topic question How does PC gaming effect our lifes today? I think that this is a good question because we can explore the pros and cons of PC gaming, especially if some of the people did not have any interest in the matter. Our main target was year 8, from 8A to 8E, we all choose this target because we wanted to relate the answers to us because we all game and we thought that it would be very interesting to find out what other peoples thoughts where. We thought about the most important questions to get a clear response so we added some questions like What class are you in? and What is your gender?, these are good to ask because then we can make a distinctive connection between the classes and the gender to PC gaming.
Comment [JH1]: Correct!

In most of our questions we had an other choice because we cant list everything, this helped us know if our questions where effective or not, we only got a few other ticked boxes so we thought we had done quite well. If I could change anything that we did it would be just tweaking a few questions because not everyone took the time to fill out some of the text box options, we could have listed some common answers that people might answer and THEN put a little textbox in case people had other ideas and opinions about the question. When we sent out the e-mail, we accidently sent it to a few teachers, this was not a very smart move as the survey was only meant to be for the whole of year 8 but luckily the teachers spotted it before we did. When we looked over the results of our survey, a few people did not answer some questions that had endless answers and they also had an other option, I think we do not need to change the question because no matter what your opinion is on it you could still answer, that problem is due to the laziness of a few of the people who answered.
Comment [JH4]: Your sure? Comment [JH3]: Interesting Comment [JH2]: Exactly

Part 2:
Out of all the people who answered the survey, most where from 8A, and there where not even any from 8C. about About 80% of the people who answered the survey where from 8A because we all tried our best to answer everyones survey too. On top of that 32 people altogether have answered the survey and 12 of them where male, this means that 19 females answered the survey witch is almost 70% (69.5)! This tells us that the majority of the answers are females responses, this is good for

determining who plays PC games. Many people thought that it is bad to play PC games because your eyes, neck, and hands hurt after a while due to constant staring at the screen. People also said that they normally go online for about 30-60 minutes yet others go on for 4+ and even no time at all, this result doubled for weekend time at a total of 1-2 hours too. These where our results for how much people spend on PC gaming: A)

Time spent on weekdays

10 8 People 6 4 2 0 No time 0-15 mins 15-30 mins 30-60 mins Time 1-2 hours 2-3 hours 3+ hours

Time spent on weekends

10 8 People 6 4 2 0 No time 0-15 mins 15-30 mins 30-60 mins Time 1-2 hours 2-3 hours 3+ hours

B) People from the survey answered that the more time you spend playing games, the less time is spent doing homework, going outside, and physically talking to friends and family. Most of the people thought that we should still play PC games, just dont over do it so it effects your daily life.

C) With PC gaming, most people dont want to sit around all day so some people wanted it to be more active like say for instance the Wii witch is a very engaging active device. I also think that it will the way people communicate and judge each other. People who dont play games might be cornered fo to separated for the others who do. This year I found a new best friend, I met him online playing one game I bought over the holidays. I think that PC gaming and even social networking will change the way people communicate to one another and how friendships are made and lost. I also think that more e-learning schools may emerge throughout the years as technology gets more and more advanced and people will be enrolled in them and not schools like NIST and almost all other places. Overall I think that PC gaming a good way to get together and meet new people who are all the way across the world, just dont let it take over your life! ;]
Comment [JH6]: Great conclusion Daniel! Comment [JH5]: What do you mean here?
