To whom it may concern, It is a pleasure to write the letter and recommend Mr.

Yifan Qi as a competitive candidate for the program in Chemistry. I first met Yifan in July 2010 and I was assigned to be his A Level Chemistry teacher. Hence, I have the opportunity to observe closely and assess his academic potential and personality. Undoubtedly, Yifan is one of the best students in his class. In my opinion, his talent, creativity, perseverance and academic performance are distinguished comparing with his fellow students. Yifan showed great interests and motivation in chemistry, and participated in class discussion with high enthusiasm. In every Chemistry class, I could feel his passion and desire for knowledge through his eyes. As a part-time A Level student in our centre, Yifan was studying at one of the best high schools in our province when he started to study A-level course. Chinese high school study alone is burdened, however, he was able to cope with the pressure and performed excellently on both courses. Owing to the great interest in chemistry Yifans knowledge of Chemistry is far beyond A-level syllabus. He initiated interesting discussions with me after class frequently and most of the arguments raised deeply impressed me. I think that is why Yifan could obtain a grade A (504/600) in his A2 chemistry exam this summer. Yifan is a keen student in learning English as well. Excellence in English has helped him study and achieve good results in A Level examinations. Yifan desires to become a great Chemist. Cutting-edge education could lead him into a more fascinating chemistry world. I believe that he deserves the position of the program. Moreover, as an alumni of University of Bath, and also a R&D Engineer (2003-2006, DIC Corporation, Japan), I believe Mr. Yifan Qi has the good qualities to study abroad and will has a promising future.
