Dissension

-Serbia and the Balkans became a fief of the Mohammedan Turkish empire. -Austria dominated the Balkans, and thus, the GermanicRomanesque element entered into the legal system. a) 1844, Serbia, being semi-independent of Turkey, adopted its own civil code based largely on the Austrian model.
