Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

ِ‫بِسْمِ الِ الرّحْمنِ الرّحِيم‬

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

ُ‫إِذَا وَ َق َعتِ الْوَاقِعَة‬

[56:1] When the great event comes to pass,
Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

ٌ‫َليْسَ ِلوَ ْقعَتِهَا كَا ِذبَة‬

[56:2] There is no belying its coming to pass--

 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

ٌ‫خَا ِفضَةٌ رّافِعَة‬

[56:3] Abasing (one party), exalting (the other),

Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

‫ت الَْ ْرضُ رَجّا‬

ِ ‫ج‬
ّ ُ‫إِذَا ر‬

[56:4] When the earth shall be shaken with a

(severe) shaking,
 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

‫جبَالُ بَسّا‬
ِ ْ‫ستِ ال‬
ّ ُ‫وَب‬

[56:5] And the mountains shall be made to crumble

with (an awful) crumbling,
Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

‫فَكَا َنتْ َهبَاء مّن َبثّا‬

[56:6] So that they shall be as scattered dust.

ً‫لثَة‬
َ َ‫وَكُنتُمْ أَزْوَاجًا ث‬

[56:7] And you shall be three sorts.

Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

ِ‫ب الْمَ ْي َمنَةِ مَا َأصْحَابُ ا ْلمَيْ َمنَة‬

ُ ‫فََأصْحَا‬

[56:8] Then (as to) the companions of the right

hand; how happy are the companions of the right
hand!
 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

ِ‫ب ا ْلمَشْأَمَة‬
ُ ‫وََأصْحَابُ ا ْلمَشْأَمَ ِة مَا َأصْحَا‬

[56:9] And (as to) the companions of the left hand;

how wretched are the companions of the left
hand!

َ‫ن السّابِقُون‬
َ ‫وَالسّابِقُو‬

[56:10] And the foremost are the foremost,

Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

َ‫أُوَْلئِكَ الْمُقَرّبُون‬

[56:11] These are they who are drawn nigh (to

Allah),
Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

ِ‫جنّاتِ النّعِيم‬
َ ‫فِي‬

[56:12] In the gardens of bliss.

 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

َ‫لْوّلِين‬
َ ‫ثُلّ ٌة مّنَ ا‬

[56:13] A numerous company from among the first,

Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

َ‫وَ َقلِيلٌ مّنَ الْخِرِين‬

[56:14] And a few from among the latter.

Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

ٍ‫علَى سُرُرٍ ّم ْوضُونَة‬

َ

[56:15] On thrones decorated,

Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

َ‫مُ ّتكِئِينَ عَلَ ْيهَا مُتَقَا ِبلِين‬

[56:16] Reclining on them, facing one another.

 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

َ‫خلّدُون‬
َ ّ‫ن م‬
ٌ ‫يَطُوفُ عََليْهِمْ ِولْدَا‬

[56:17] Round about them shall go youths never

altering in age,
 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

ٍ‫بِأَكْوَابٍ وََأبَارِيقَ َوكَأْسٍ مّن مّعِين‬

[56:18] With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure

drink;
 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

َ‫عنْهَا وَلَ يُن ِزفُون‬

َ َ‫ل ُيصَدّعُون‬
َ

[56:19] They shall not be affected with headache

thereby, nor shall they get exhausted,
Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

َ‫َوفَاكِهَةٍ ّممّا يَتَخَيّرُون‬

[56:20] And fruits such as they choose,

 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

َ‫طيْ ٍر مّمّا يَشْتَهُون‬

َ ِ‫وَلَحْم‬

[56:21] And the flesh of fowl such as they desire.

Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

ٌ‫وَحُورٌ عِين‬

[56:22] And pure, beautiful ones,

Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

ِ‫كََأمْثَالِ الّلؤُْلؤِ ا ْلمَكْنُون‬

[56:23] The like of the hidden pearls:

Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

َ‫جَزَاء بِمَا كَانُوا يَعْ َملُون‬

[56:24] A reward for what they used to do.

 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

‫ن فِيهَا لَغْوًا وَلَ تَ ْأثِيمًا‬

َ ‫سمَعُو‬
ْ َ‫لَ ي‬

[56:25] They shall not hear therein vain or sinful

discourse,
Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

‫لمًا سَلَمًا‬
َ َ‫إِلّ قِيلً س‬

[56:26] Except the word peace, peace.

 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

ِ‫وَأَصْحَابُ الْ َيمِينِ مَا أَصْحَابُ الْ َيمِين‬

[56:27] And the companions of the right hand; how

happy are the companions of the right hand!
Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

ٍ‫خضُود‬
ْ ّ‫فِي سِدْرٍ م‬

[56:28] Amid thornless lote-trees,

 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

ٍ‫طلْحٍ مّنضُود‬
َ َ‫و‬

[56:29] And banana-trees (with fruits), one above

another.
Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

ٍ‫ل مّمْدُود‬
ّ ِ‫وَظ‬

[56:30] And extended shade,

Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

ٍ‫وَمَاء مّسْكُوب‬

[56:31] And water flowing constantly,

Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

ٍ‫َوفَا ِكهَةٍ َكثِيرَة‬

[56:32] And abundant fruit,

Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

ٍ‫ل مَمْنُوعَة‬
َ َ‫ل مَقْطُوعَةٍ و‬
ّ

[56:33] Neither intercepted nor forbidden,

Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

ٍ‫ش مّ ْرفُوعَة‬
ٍ ُ‫وَفُر‬

[56:34] And exalted thrones.

 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

‫ن إِنشَاء‬
ّ ُ‫ِإنّا أَنشَ ْأنَاه‬

[56:35] Surely We have made them to grow into a

(new) growth,
Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

‫جعَلْنَاهُنّ َأبْكَارًا‬
َ َ‫ف‬

[56:36] Then We have made them virgins,

Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

‫عُرُبًا أَتْرَابًا‬

[56:37] Loving, equals in age,

 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

ِ‫لَّصْحَابِ الْ َيمِين‬

[56:38] For the sake of the companions of the right

hand.
 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

َ‫لْوّلِين‬
َ ‫ثُلّ ٌة مّنَ ا‬

[56:39] A numerous company from among the first,

 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

َ‫وَثُلّ ٌة مّنَ الْخِرِين‬

[56:40] And a numerous company from among the

last.
 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

ِ‫ل مَا أَصْحَابُ الشّمَال‬

ِ ‫ب الشّمَا‬
ُ ‫َوَأصْحَا‬

[56:41] And those of the left hand, how wretched

are those of the left hand!
Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

ٍ‫حمِيم‬
َ َ‫فِي سَمُومٍ و‬

[56:42] In hot wind and boiling water,

Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

ٍ‫حمُوم‬
ْ َ‫وَظِلّ مّن ي‬

[56:43] And the shade of black smoke,

Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

ٍ‫لّ بَارِ ٍد وَلَ كَرِيم‬

[56:44] Neither cool nor honorable.

 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

َ‫إِ ّنهُمْ كَانُوا قَبْلَ َذلِكَ مُتْ َرفِين‬

[56:45] Surely they were before that made to live in

ease and plenty.
 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

ِ‫ث ا ْلعَظِيم‬
ِ ‫علَى الْحِن‬
َ َ‫وَكَانُوا يُصِرّون‬

[56:46] And they persisted in the great violation.

 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

‫وَكَانُوا يَقُولُونَ أَئِذَا ِمتْنَا وَ ُكنّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَامًا أَ ِئنّا‬

َ‫َلمَبْعُوثُون‬

[56:47] And they used to say: What! when we die

and have become dust and bones, shall we then
indeed be raised?

َ‫لْوّلُون‬
َ ‫َأوَ آبَاؤُنَا ا‬

[56:48] Or our fathers of yore?

Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

َ‫ن وَالْخِرِين‬
َ ‫ن الَْ ّولِي‬
ّ ِ‫قُلْ إ‬

[56:49] Say: The first and the last,

 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

ٍ‫لَمَجْمُوعُونَ ِإلَى مِيقَاتِ َيوْمٍ ّمعْلُوم‬

[56:50] Shall most surely be gathered together for

the appointed hour of a known day.
 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

َ‫ثُ ّم إِنّكُ ْم أَيّهَا الضّالّونَ الْمُكَ ّذبُون‬

[56:51] Then shall you, O you who err and call it a

lie!
Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

ٍ‫لَ ِكلُونَ مِن شَجَ ٍر مّن زَقّوم‬

[56:52] Most surely eat of a tree of Zaqqoom,

Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

َ‫فَمَاِلؤُونَ ِمنْهَا الْبُطُون‬

[56:53] And fill (your) bellies with it;

Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

ِ‫ن الْحَمِيم‬
َ ِ‫فَشَارِبُونَ عََليْهِ م‬

[56:54] Then drink over it of boiling water;

Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

ِ‫فَشَا ِربُونَ شُ ْربَ ا ْلهِيم‬

[56:55] And drink as drinks the thirsty camel.

 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

ِ‫هَذَا نُ ُزلُهُمْ َيوْمَ الدّين‬

[56:56] This is their entertainment on the day of

requital.
 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

َ‫ل ُتصَ ّدقُون‬

َ ْ‫نَحْنُ خَلَقْنَاكُ ْم َفلَو‬

[56:57] We have created you, why do you not then

assent?
Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

َ‫أَفَرََأيْتُم مّا ُتمْنُون‬

[56:58] Have you considered the seed?

Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

َ‫ن الْخَالِقُون‬
ُ ْ‫خلُقُونَهُ أَ ْم نَح‬
ْ َ‫َأأَنتُمْ ت‬

[56:59] Is it you that create it or are We the

creators?
 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

َ‫نَحْنُ قَدّرْنَا َبيْنَكُ ُم ا ْلمَ ْوتَ َومَا نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوقِين‬

[56:60] We have ordained death among you and

We are not to be overcome,
 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

َ‫علَى أَن نّبَدّلَ أَ ْمثَالَكُ ْم وَنُنشِ َئكُمْ فِي مَا ل‬

َ
َ‫َتعَْلمُون‬

[56:61] In order that We may bring in your place

the likes of you and make you grow into what
you know not.
 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

َ‫علِمْتُ ُم النّشْأَةَ الُْولَى َفلَوْلَ تَذكّرُون‬

َ ْ‫وَلَقَد‬

[56:62] And certainly you know the first growth,

why do you not then mind?
Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

َ‫أَفَرََأيْتُم مّا تَحْرُثُون‬

[56:63] Have you considered what you sow?

 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

َ‫َأأَنتُمْ تَزْرَعُونَ ُه أَمْ نَحْنُ الزّارِعُون‬

[56:64] Is it you that cause it to grow, or are We the

causers of growth?
 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

َ‫ظلْتُمْ تَ َفكّهُون‬
َ َ‫جعَ ْلنَاهُ حُطَامًا ف‬
َ َ‫لَوْ نَشَاء ل‬

[56:65] If We pleased, We should have certainly

made it broken down into pieces, then would you
begin to lament:

َ‫إِنّا لَ ُمغْرَمُون‬

[56:66] Surely we are burdened with debt:

Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

َ‫ن مَحْرُومُون‬
ُ ْ‫ل نَح‬
ْ َ‫ب‬

[56:67] Nay! we are deprived.

 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

َ‫َأفَ َرأَ ْيتُ ُم ا ْلمَاء الّذِي تَشْرَبُون‬

[56:68] Have you considered the water which you

drink?
 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

َ‫ن الْمُنزِلُون‬
ُ‫ح‬ْ َ‫أَأَنتُمْ أَنزَلْ ُتمُوهُ مِنَ الْمُزْنِ أَ ْم ن‬

[56:69] Is it you that send it down from the clouds,

or are We the senders?
Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

َ‫َلوْ نَشَاء جَ َعلْنَاهُ أُجَاجًا َفلَوْلَ تَشْكُرُون‬

[56:70] If We pleased, We would have made it

salty; why do you not then give thanks?
 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

َ‫َأفَ َرأَ ْيتُمُ النّا َر الّتِي تُورُون‬

[56:71] Have you considered the fire which you

strike?
 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

َ‫شؤُون‬
ِ ‫ن الْمُن‬
ُ ْ‫أَأَنتُمْ أَنشَ ْأتُمْ شَجَ َرتَهَا أَ ْم نَح‬

[56:72] Is it you that produce the trees for it, or are

We the producers?
Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

َ‫جعَلْنَاهَا تَذْكِ َرةً َومَتَاعًا ّللْمُ ْقوِين‬

َ ُ‫نَحْن‬

[56:73] We have made it a reminder and an

advantage for the wayfarers of the desert.
 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

ِ‫سبّحْ بِاسْمِ رَبّكَ الْعَظِيم‬

َ َ‫ف‬

[56:74] Therefore glorify the name of your Lord,

the Great.
 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

ِ‫فَلَ ُأقْسِ ُم بِمَوَاقِعِ النّجُوم‬

[56:75] But nay! I swear by the falling of stars;

 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

ٌ‫وَِإنّهُ لَقَسَمٌ ّلوْ تَ ْعلَمُونَ عَظِيم‬

[56:76] And most surely it is a very great oath if

you only knew;
Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

ٌ‫ن كَرِيم‬
ٌ ‫ِإنّهُ لَقُرْآ‬

[56:77] Most surely it is an honored Quran,

Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

ٍ‫فِي كِتَابٍ ّمكْنُون‬

[56:78] In a book that is protected

 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

َ‫لّ َيمَسّ ُه إِلّ الْمُطَهّرُون‬

[56:79] None shall touch it save the purified ones.

 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

َ‫تَنزِيلٌ مّن ّربّ ا ْلعَالَمِين‬

[56:80] A revelation by the Lord of the worlds.

Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

َ‫َأفَ ِبهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ أَنتُم مّدْ ِهنُون‬

[56:81] Do you then hold this announcement in

contempt?
Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

َ‫جعَلُونَ رِ ْزقَكُ ْم أَنّكُ ْم تُكَذّبُون‬

ْ َ‫َوت‬

[56:82] And to give (it) the lie you make your

means of subsistence.
 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

َ‫َفلَوْلَ إِذَا بََل َغتِ الْحُلْقُوم‬

[56:83] Why is it not then that when it (soul) comes

up to the throat,
Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

َ‫وَأَنتُمْ حِي َنئِذٍ تَنظُرُون‬

[56:84] And you at that time look on--

 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

َ‫ل تُبْصِرُون‬
ّ ‫ب إِلَيْ ِه مِنكُمْ َولَكِن‬
ُ ‫وَنَحْنُ َأقْ َر‬

[56:85] And We are nearer to it than you, but you

do not see--

َ‫ل إِن كُنتُمْ غَيْرَ مَدِينِين‬

َ ْ‫فََلو‬

[56:86] Then why is it not-- if you are not held

under authority--
Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

َ‫تَرْجِعُونَهَا إِن كُنتُ ْم صَادِقِين‬

[56:87] That you send it (not) back-- if you are

truthful?
 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

َ‫ن مِنَ الْمُقَرّبِين‬

َ ‫فَأَمّا إِن كَا‬

[56:88] Then if he is one of those drawn nigh (to

Allah),
 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

ٍ‫ح وَ َريْحَانٌ وَجَنّةُ نَعِيم‬

ٌ ْ‫فَرَو‬

[56:89] Then happiness and bounty and a garden of

bliss.
 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

ِ‫وَأَمّا إِن كَانَ مِنَ أَصْحَابِ الْ َيمِين‬

[56:90] And if he is one of those on the right hand,

 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

ِ‫فَسَلَ ٌم لّكَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ الْ َيمِين‬

[56:91] Then peace to you from those on the right

hand.
 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

َ‫ن الضّالّين‬
َ ‫ن مِنَ ا ْلمُكَ ّذبِي‬
َ ‫وَأَمّا إِن كَا‬

[56:92] And if he is one of the rejecters, the erring

ones,
 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

ٍ‫حمِيم‬
َ ْ‫ل مّن‬
ٌ ُ‫فَنُز‬

[56:93] He shall have an entertainment of boiling

water,
Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

ٍ‫صلِيَةُ جَحِيم‬
ْ ‫وَ َت‬

[56:94] And burning in hell.

Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

ِ‫ق الْيَقِين‬
ّ َ‫إِنّ هَذَا َلهُوَ ح‬

[56:95] Most surely this is a certain truth.

 Surah al-Waaqia (The Inevitable Event)

ِ‫سبّحْ بِاسْمِ رَبّكَ الْعَظِيم‬

َ َ‫ف‬

[56:96] Therefore glorify the name of your Lord,

the Great.
