BBFC Research

We have looked, as a group, through the website to see the guidelines of each age rating and our film is going to have an age rating of 15. The guidlines usually focus on Language, nudity/sex and violence, since our film doesn't dwell on any of these very much we were stuck on which catagory to place it in, so we read more thoroughly through the criterea and considered that this is only the beginning of a film and the rest of the film may well be much more unsuitable for younger ages. But we talked it through and the parts that would apply to our film would be Horror and violence, under the catagory of horror, the website states that 'Strong threat and menace are permitted unless sadistic or sexualised.' which is exacly what we wish to do, we entend to have no sexual scenes what so ever during our movie and that includes nudety aswell. For the terms of violence the website states that 'Violence may be strong but should not dwell on the infliction of pain or injury. The strongest gory images are unlikely to be acceptable. Strong sadistic or sexualised violence is also unlikely to be acceptable. There may be detailed verbal references to sexual violence but any portrayal of sexual violence must be discreet and have a strong contextual justification.' As a group we figured that there is probably going to be much more violence to come considering what happens in the beginning is only an introduction to what is to come, it would not be limited at that amount of violence. Language should be fine considering the website states 'There may be frequent use of strong language. The strongest terms may be acceptable if justified by the context. Aggressive or repeated use of the strongest language is unlikely to be acceptable.' There may well be some aggressive language in the movie considering it's set around kidnapping so the characters may be scared which may bring on some strong language, but the website states that this is okay as long as its not repeated. Drugs are not likely to be used at all in this movie unless its used during the kidnapping, but it wont be repeated use or misused in anyway.
