BBFC Certification

Our films age certificate a 15 because we feel its the most suitable for our
film. We believe that the movie will not be suitable for viewers under the
age of 15. It is a 15 because of the adult story line of young girls being
kidnapped by older men and for younger audience members than 15 this
could spook those as they may fell this could happen to them in real life. It
is also 15 because of the excessive suspense which will scare viewers
under 15 years old
Also we have decided the age restriction of 15+ because our target
audience is 15-25 meaning many people from the younger generation will
be able to watch it and thoroughly enjoy it.

BBFC Certification a 15 can have compared to a 12A

Nudity
Drug taking
Strong/heavy violence
Frequent strong/offensive language
Discriminatory behaviour (e.g. Racism)
Strong sexual inferences or activity

Sexual content
This includes nudity. Sexual activity/contact is allowed in 15s by BBFC
guidelines but only if its not too graphic and in much detail. Scenes are
permitted to be however long they want as long as they are not in detail.
Most sexual references will be acceptable as long as they are not too
crude and in context.

Offensive/ Discriminatory language

Racism, homophobia and any other sort of discriminatory language is
allowed in a 15 rated film but BBFC specify that the film is not allowed to
encourage this behaviour. This means that the movies must show that
being discriminatory will have implications.

Strong Violence
BBFC guidelines state that any sort of strong violence is acceptable as
long as there is limited detail of the pain or injury which has been inflicted.
For example someone continuously screaming.

Strong Language
In the guidelines of the BBFC it says that in a 15 rated film there is aloud a
a great deal of strong language (swearing) and are allowed to repeat the
word as many times as the wish. However, the rudest and strongest
swear words are not permitted to be used frequently and in an aggressive
way as it may offend some of the audience.

Thrillers
Thrillers in general can be any sort of age rating as long as the subgenre
of the thriller isnt something so scary like a horror thriller. However, most
thrillers incorporate suspense and fear, and however much of those
elements are in the film will change the age rating. An example of a
thriller which is well known is little red riding hood. The story line of it
sounds like a 15 rated but it can be dulled down to be PG rated by there
being less suspense and peril in it. This displays however a film is directed
and presented it can easily change its age rating.
