A – Z Roles and functions of Teachers as Curriculum Leader

A - Advocate positive curricular reforms to ensure quality of education.

- As a teacher, it is their role to ensure the quality of education of the students using a
positive curricular reform approved by the government. Being in K-12 and following
the teaching guidelines in K-12 such as using binocular language as a teaching
language is an example of it.

B - Broaden understanding of the teaching and learning process.

- Being in seminars and using different strategies helps the teachers to broaden the topic
for the student to finally understand the lesson

C – Conduct research to enhance curriculum content and improve teaching and

learning.
- Use as many resources as possible to enhance the curriculum content and to improve
the teaching method of the teachers and learning of the students.

D – Develop appropriate curriculum for students.

- Develop appropriate curriculum for students. It may depend on the age range, mental
capability or physical ability.

E – Evaluate curriculum materials and the implementation of the curriculum.

- Evaluate the curriculum materials if it is appropriate or not in implementation of the
curriculum.

F – Facilitate activities to ensure public understanding of every single curriculum

reform.
- Facilitate activities such as meetings of parents and teachers to ensure that the public
truly understands the curriculum reform

G – Gather important data needed for curriculum planning.

- Gather as much as data needed for the curriculum planning. Use many resources as
possible.

H – Harness community resources in curriculum development.

- Make use of the community resources for activities in curriculum development

I – Innovate curriculum and instruction.

- Make the curriculum as present as possible. Let the instructions be active and
appropriate of the students of the 21st century.
J – Justify the need to innovate, evaluate and develop curriculum.
- The teacher should stress the need to innovate, evaluate and develop curriculum to
ensure the quality of education of the students.

K – Know every learner needs, issues, and interests.

- Know your learner – their needs, issues and interest. This may help you to create a
more appropriate curriculum guide for them.

L – Lobby congressional support for bills that are needed for curriculum reforms.
- Supports your curriculum reform using the congressional bills that are approved by the
government.

M – Manage curriculum implementation and curriculum change.

- Manage the implementation of the curriculum. Make sure that the implementation is
appropriate to the kids.

N – Nurture creativity and critical thinking in the curriculum.

- Use different activities that could challenge the mental capability of the students.

O – Orient teachers, students, parents, and other stakeholders on the new curriculum.

P – Provide updated knowledge on the subject they teach.

- The knowledge on every subjects of the teachers should be updated as much as
possible.

- Use curriculum ideas and theories that you think appropriate in your subjects and
topic.

R – Reflect on the different researches that influence the curriculum.

- Reflect on the different researches that influences the curriculum and study them.

S – Select appropriate instructional strategies, methods, and approaches.

- Select appropriate instructional strategies, methods and approaches in you subject and
in your topic. Using inappropriate strategies may affect your teaching and the learning
of the students.

T – Train teachers who will implement the curriculum.

- Train the teachers for the proper implementation of the curriculum. It could a week-
long seminar or three-day seminar.
U – Understand implications of social issues and social changes in the curriculum.
- Understand implication of social issues and social changes in the curriculum. The best
example of this what we are experiencing now. Because of COVI-19, we need to
continue our studies through online classes.
V – Validate the contents of the curriculum.
- The teachers should validate the contents of the curriculum before the school year
starts.

W – Win support from stakeholders and government on needed curriculum reforms.

- As much as possible, gain supports from the stakeholders and government on needed
curriculum reforms. This may help in implementation of the curriculum.

X – X-ing (crossing) out bureaucratic barriers to curriculum implementation.

- As much as possible, the implementation of the curriculum must go on without
problems.

Y – Yearn for quality education through a relevant and responsive curriculum.

- The curriculum must be the portal through quality education on the students.

Z – Zero out irrelevant and erroneous curriculum contents and materials.

- Do not use the irrelevant and erroneous contents and materials. This may affect the
learning of the students.
