ONLINE EDUCATION
When making the decision to go back to school, one of the biggest choices
prospective students have to make is whether they will enroll in an online
college or in a traditional, campus-based institution. Nowadays, It seems
everything is going online, because of the pandemic we are facing. Our
education is even being moved to the internet. Many individuals will quarrel
about the drawbacks of this phenomenon, but today, I want to address the
advantages of having an education online. This is an important subject, as the
future of education is gradually shifting towards the online shift of physical
education institutions. There are reasons for this: you can learn whatever you
want several times, it is more relaxed in a number of ways, online courses often
look good on resumes, the learner controls the speed of learning, and the cost
of virtual education is often lower than traditional education.

The freedom to choose your educational path is an enduring quality of online

education. For more creative people, or people who want to focus on a single
activity, this can be a dream come true. You can pick the program of your
dreams in traditional education, too, but that would involve traveling away from
home, living in a completely unknown city, and struggling in an extremely
competitive learning environment. There are several problems with the
traditional system of education. First of all, you need to pay thousands of money
per term to attend school. With an online education, the traditional school
system for grade schools and colleges or universities can save money because
there would be no need for facilities and equipment. In addition, online learning
3

is a more affordable option, as you'll get a high-quality education at a much

lower cost due to the lower overhead needed to operate these programs. Not
only does tuition tend to be lower, but many additional expenses, such as
transportation costs and course materials, are eliminated in an online program.

Like the last point, comfort takes center stage for many students. Countless
students choose online education in order to avoid wasting time travelling and
on many other activities in order to attend physical education institutions. Forget
about attending classes for hours, sitting in an uncomfortable chair, and
suffering from back pain by the end of the day. You will not be bound to a
physical class session when you opt for online education. All lectures and
needed materials are provided via online platforms, so you’ll easily access them
from the comfort of your home. You will not take public transport to get to
campus, you won’t have to spend money on gas for your car, you won’t have
to get up early to get dressed for class, the list of conveniences goes on and on.
Comfort is a strong advantage, but it can go both ways. You mustn’t allow
yourself to get too comfortable when studying from home, so it would be best to
abandon the couch for a few hours a day and set up an inspirational studying
environment in your home. All you need is a large desk and a nice, comfortable
chair.

Online learning is so effective because students can easily complete their

assignments, and there is more time left for hobbies or to find a career. Access
to all conventional course tools allows learners to learn wherever they are, giving
them the flexibility to select the time to study. Even better: they don’t have to
travel anywhere to study, they can simply log in to the virtual campus from the
comfort of their own home or anywhere. Online learning is effective because it
makes you effective. The best thing about online learning is that you can learn in
a relaxed manner even if you don’t want to get certified. You only need passion
for learning and a quick online search that will take you to the right course. From
that point on, you will be the master of your own education.

Online learning is a growing and exciting new way to learn about almost
anything. If there is a course you have always wanted to take or a skill you have
always wanted to learn, but you have not had the time to attend a traditional
face-to-face class or there hasn't been an opportunity near you, then online
learning might be your answer. Today's online learning opportunities offer
everything from one-hour live workshops to online degrees. There is virtually
something for everyone, all you have to do is find it.
However, learning online is different from learning in a face-to-face setting, and
it is important to think about your goals, your needs and your interests before
committing yourself to something. You also need to think about the time you
have available, your comfort level with using technology and the equipment
that is at your disposal. As we all become more familiar with computers and
computer access becomes increasingly common, online learning will continue
to open doors and offer learning opportunities for those who are interested.

NOTES:
According to elearning Industry, “You can pick the program of your dreams in
traditional education, too, but that would involve traveling away from home,
living in a completely unknown city, and struggling in an extremely competitive
learning environment. With online education, you can take any program or
course present in traditional four-year universities” (Norman, Stephanie). So, the
ease of access to the courses and majors you are striving to study are widely
available online. This increases opportunities to gain the education we desire
instead of making needless compromises.

According to the Open Education Database, “Commercials that feature online

students studying in their pajamas only skims the surface of one of the benefits of
online education: no physical class sessions. Students listen to lectures and
complete assignments sent to them electronically, with no need to fight traffic,
leave work early for class, or miss important family time. Rather than miss
important class sessions (due to weather conditions), students in online courses
can always “attend” by participating in discussion boards or chat sessions,
turning in their work on time, and watching lectures or reading materials” (“10
Advantages of Taking Online Classes”). In other words, by being an online
student, you circumnavigate many of the issues that regular students endure on
a daily basis.
