RULES OF THE N.C.I.A.I.

PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST
The purpose of the North Carolina International Association for Identification Photography Contest is to promote and recognize excellence in photography among the membership. y y y y y y y y y y y y y The photography contest will be held once a year at the N.C.I.A.I. conference. The contest will be coordinated by the Awards and Goodwill Committee. Entrants must be N.C.I.A.I. members. If a member cannot be present at the conference, a department representative may submit the entry for judging in the members name. All entries must be photographed by the entrant. Processing and printing may be by the entrant or the normal departmental procedures. Group entries are acceptable as long as one person in the group is a N.C.I.A.I. member. Entries may be in color or black and white photographs, or video tapes/digital media. A still shot from a video is also acceptable. Photos must be mounted on an 8 x 10 or larger mounting board. If a video is submitted, the entrant must ensure that VCR and monitor/digital media readers are available. There are four (4) categories: Crime Scene, Laboratory, Open Candid, and Video. All photos must be of a forensic or law enforcement nature. Prior to submission, the entrant must choose the appropriate category. The category must be listed on the back. Do not write your name on your entry. Entries will be identified by an assigned number. Entries should be submitted no later than 4:00 pm on the first day of the conference to Kim Breeden. The first vice-president of the N.C.I.A.I. shall serve as the chief judge. He\she will appoint two others for a three-judge panel. No entrant can be a judge. The criteria for judging is print quality and subject matter. There will be an 8 x 10 plaque awarded for BEST OF SHOW and 5 x 7 plaques awarded for the winner in each of the four categories. Each entrant not receiving an award will receive a Certificate of Participation. Awards will be presented on Thursday, March, 22, 2012. All entries will be exhibited during the banquet, if possible, and\or at the business meeting.

Entrants are responsible for taking possession of their entries following the judging or exhibiting.
