Dear Minister Coonan, Telstra - Compensatory Commitments Thank you for your letter dated 13th September in which you have agreed to appoint an independent assessor to review the status of all outstanding claims against Telstra and to provide a basis to negotiate a possible settlement with them. I would greatly appreciate it if you could please provide me with an outline of any criteria you are considering in determining whether an independent assessment is warranted and what process you will put in place for conducting the assessments. Obviously, the affected constituents are keen for their claims to be progressed and require an understanding of the proposed process and timeframe. My office has forwarded a list of those constituents who have sought my representation to your office. I would assume that if you, or Telstra. are aware of any others, they will be included in this process? I look forward to your earliest response and would like to thank you for assisting our constituents in finalising the outstanding disputes. Kind regards,
