Pray through Gods Story (Week 5)

Focus on God
God always does what is right and good and perfect. Therefore, hear me, you men of understanding: far be it from God that he should do wickedness, and from the Almighty that he should do wrong. Of a truth, God will not do wickedly, and the Almighty will not pervert justice. (Job 34:10, 12) God is the Sovereign Creator and Sustainer of the Universe. Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge? Dress for action like a man; I will question you, and you make it known to me. Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell me, if you have understanding. Who determined its measurementssurely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it? On what were its bases sunk, or who laid its cornerstone, when the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy? (Job 38:1-7)

Respond from the Heart

Confess that God is sovereign and repent of the times you doubted or questioned his ways. Then Job answered the Lord and said: I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted. I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees you; therefore I despise myself, and repent in dust and ashes. (Job 42:1-2, 5-6) Repent of the times you have not spoken the truth about God to those who are suffering. My anger burns against you and against your two friends, for you have not spoken of me what is right, as my servant Job has you have not spoken of me what is right, as my servant Job has. (Job 42:7-8)

Seek First the Kingdom

Pray that those who suffer will have wisdom on how to respond to their situations. Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to turn away from evil is understanding. (Job 28:28)

Present Your Requests

Pray that God will give you wisdom on how to respond in your suffering and any difficult situations. From where, then, does wisdom come? And where is the place of understanding? It is hidden from the eyes of all livingGod understands the way to it, and he knows its place. (Job 28:20-23)

Close in Celebration
Praise God for the wondrous works he has done in our lives. Hear this, O Job: stop and consider the wondrous works of God. (Job 37:14) Thank God for the hope that he will bless us with more than what we can imagine. Thank God for the blessings you already received even in times of suffering. And the Lord blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning. And he had 14,000 sheep, 6,000 camels, 1,000 yoke of oxen, and 1,000 female donkeys. He had also seven sons and three daughtersAnd after this Job lived 140 years, and saw his sons, and his sons sons, four generations. And Job died, an old man, and full of days." (Job 42:12-13, 16-17)
