Objectives 1. Students will review contractions and read compound words 2. Students will be able to make predictions when reading 3. Students will be able to translate letter patterns into spoken language using phonics syllabication and word parts and apply this knowledge for fluent oral reading Content Standards I. 1. Have students sit on carpet and do a quick phonic mini-lesson


2. Model each literacy center 3. Excuse students to work at their literacy center 4. At teacher center, teacher will review contractions and introduce compound words 5. Do a brief picture walk and discuss predictions 6. Remind students to look for compound words 7. Monitor and take anecdotal notes while students are reading 8. After 20 minutes, teacher directs students to rotate centers 9. Teacher will teach same minilesson to new group 10. Explain follow up activity to students Student Behaviors

1. Students will sit on the carpet and follow directions the first time given 2. Students will quietly work independently at center
3. Read and understand contractions and compound words 4. Students will participate in predictions and reading during guided reading instruction 5. Be aware of contractions and compound words in story 6. Read story fluently and sound out each word when reading 7. Identify patterns in words and vowel patterns to build fluency 8. Ask questions when lost Notes

The first group I will be reading with are the Giraffes. I may have to modify lesson for Tristyn Toki-Mauigoa. He is unable to hear clearly. Mother is currently working with insurance to see specialist.
