SCORING METHODOLOGY (a) FREQUENCY OF OCCURRENCE (O) : Monthly once & above - 1 ; Weekly once - 2 ; Daily once - 3 ; Several times - 4 ; Continuous - 5 (b) DETECTION (D) : Instantaneous - 1 ; < 2 hrs - 2 ; < 8 hrs - 3 ; < a day - 4 ; > a day - 5 (c) S - Severity of Occurence 1 - Occurence has insignificant impact on environmental 2 - Occurence has moderate impact resulting in minor pollution which can be corrected in a short span of time confined to the location 3 - Occurence has impact resulting in significant pollution on land, air , or water which takes beyond 8 hours for correction and/or has an effect on the plant area 4 - Occurence results in pollution of land , air or water , which exceeds prescribed limits , taking beyond a day to control and has an effect on the plant area 5 - Occurence results in pollution of land ,air , or water which exceeds prescribed limits, whose correct actions takes beyond 24 hours.
Criteria for identifying the significant aspects : TSA(Total Significant Aspect) = S X O X D a) If TSA is > 27 Significiant is High . If TSA is 8 to 27 Significiant is Medium .
