Geothermal
How is it formed? Geothermal energy is energy generated from the heat beneath the Earth's surface. How does it become electricity? Thermal power plants are a common design for generating geothermal electricity. A heat source is used to boil water into steam, and then steam is used to turn the blades of a turbine.

Geothermal
How does this become electricity? Cont The turbine is then used to power the generator and produce electricity.

Where is Geothermal Energy used?

Iceland Icelands capital, Reykjavik (rayk-yahvick), gets 90% of its heat for homes and public buildings by directing hot water from the earth into a system of pipes. California San Bernardino uses geothermal energy directly in a district heating program.

Geothermal
How is it used? Geothermal energy is used to heat homes as well as for generating electricity. How does it impact our environment? Geothermal energy does little damage to the environment. Geothermal plants produce almost no emissions because they do not burn fuel to generate electricity.
