It was registered by the Cooperative Administration Office (CAO). The Baguio-Benguet Community Credit Cooperative, Inc. (BBCCCI, now the BBCCC) was organized through the initiative and leadership of Atty. Alex H. Brilliantes. It was started by fifteen (15) teachers of then St. Louis College (now SLU). It originally transacted business in the house of Atty. And Mrs. Brilliantes. The Incorporators were Zenaida Agoo, Renato Asprer, Mariano Balmadres, Remedios Blancas, Atty. Alexander Brilliantes Sr. (Charter President and Board Chairman) Atty. Felix Claustro, Alberto Crespillo Sr., Joaquin Bugayong, Dr. Marcelino Foronda Jr., Angelina Galvez, Guillermo Mabanag, Demetrio Mallari, Alfredo Mamuyac, Genesio Navarro and Atty. Marcelo Ramos. July 16, 1961 The BBCCC constitution and by-laws were amended to accommodate the desire of the community to join this Voluntary Movement. 1966 The operation of the Cooperative was transferred from the residence of the Brilliantes at Assumption Road to a rented space (Rillera Building) along Upper P. Burgos Street then back to Brilliantes Compound due to landslide. Under P.D. no. 175 and L.O.I. no. 23 (Dec. 10, 1976) the credit union was registered as Baguio-Benguet Community Credit Cooperative, Inc. (BBCCCI) to extend its services to the residents of Baguio and Benguet. The late Dr. Gregorio S. Rimas was elected as Board Chairman/President and the Cooperative was housed at the Sangkabalayan, Cathedral Compound. 1977 It transferred its operation to the Resurrection Church for one year. 1978 Back to Brilliantes Compound. February 1983 Through Pres. Rimas, a representation to the late Fr. Ghisleen de Vos, Pres. of Saint Louis University, allowed the Coop to operate in the garage of the Guest House of SLU for its office. 1988 Thirty years later after its organization, BBCCCI has acquired a building of its own sold by the late Mrs. Fridelina Estepa. After its major renovation in 1988, the new building was blessed by then SLU President Fr. Joseph Vanden Daelen. Through Dr. Rimas and Atty. Brilliantes and his son Dr. Atty. Brilliantes Jr., the street going to BBCCCI is now named Cooperative Street by the City Council of Baguio. April 17, 2005 BBCCC inagurated its new 7-storey building located at #56 Assumption Road, Baguio City.Bishop Carlito Cenzon and Fr. Mar Arenas blessed this 7-Storey BBCCC Building.
