The line chart shows the annual figure for foreign students to Australia from Indonesia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Singapore between the years 1982 and 2000. It can be clearly seen that, there was an upward trend with the most significant increase in the last 12 years. In the first 6 years, the overseas students to Australia increased slightly. Indonesia, Singapore and Hong Kong, where virtually nobody arrived in Australia in 1982, underwent a gradual rise by 5000 over the period. Whereas, the number of Malaysians at roughly 4000 then rose slowly and stabilized at 6000 from 1983. Briefly from 1988, the increase in quantities of students from four countries was unremarkable during the given time. Throughout the following decade, there was a considerable climbed dramatically. Figures for students from Malaysia and Hong Kong grew to peak at approximately 18000 in 1997 before slightly decreasing to end up with around 16000. It fluctuated slightly in over the period. That of Singapore steadily rose to19000 in 2000. By 1994, students from Indonesia increased to 11000 and increased again but more steeply to 26000 in 1998 then suddenly fell by 3000 in the last year. In conclution, we can see that Australia became a more preferable destination with exotic students in 10 years later. Especially, the annual figure for foreign students from Singapore did no drop during the entire period.
