    2271ENV Research Methods for Social Science Semester 1, 2012 Workshop 4-Evaluation research

    1. In groups develop a composite measure to evaluate the quality of life in South East Queensland

    a. Outline the social indicators you would use to develop such a measure. Explain why you have chosen these measures and how you would collect them

    b. Now suppose data on your social indicators have been collected over a ten year period. What might you be able to do with these data?

    2. Assuming you have no ethical constraints, design a program intended to reduce drug use by addicts. How would success be defined? What are the external variables could influence your findings?

    Having designed your program, now identify the ethical issues and revise the program to account for these and consider how accounting for these ethical issues might alter the program outcomes.
