This latest segregation keeps moving on Culebra without so much as a public hearing! They got electrical hook up yesterday. This photo in front of Casita Azul sign where off island electrical company brigades had already deforested well established mangroves, and then replanted seaside mahos in same area they allegedly deforested because of the wires? Signs saying"correct planting" from the electrical company green wash the destruction- and the "reforestation" Well over two acres of clearing reopened upland as well, with no erosion control in this sensitive watershed. This after EPA took action in the area- although it's not clear on which project- EPA told me they found three projects. The base of the river bed was filled after mangroves on the side if road at this "entrance" were destroyed. Today the cement placed at base of road is so elevated, the traffic passes over the area where last mangrove tree was removed - compacting the dry river bed which will likely result severe flooding of already compromised homes located further upland. Jurisdictional authority is Municipal, ACDEC, Commonwealth (DRNA) and Federal. This continues after problems were already reported to agencies- and after actions were already taken by EPA. This was reported to ACDEC new executive director when mangroves removed three months ago.
