Connect the Faces Activity

This is a fun activity to use at the beginning of the year to get students interacting and to jumpstart your writing program. Students pass papers, taking turns drawing the parts of a face to create characters. At the end they get their original paper back and write a story with the character designed for them by their classmates. Writing paper included for both younger and upper grades. Connect the Faces

Here are the rules for this activity. Each time you finish a task below, pass the paper in your hand to your right. (Your teacher will tell you when to pass the papers). Make sure your name and date are on your paper before passing the first time. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. Draw a circle for the head of a character. Pass your paper. Draw a mouth on the paper that was handed to you. Pass again. Draw eyes on the paper that was handed to you. Pass again. Draw a nose on the paper that was handed to you. Pass again. Draw ears on the paper that was handed to you. Pass again. Draw hair for the characters head on the paper that was handed to you. Give the character a name for the paper that was handed to you. Now find the original paper that has your name on it. Write a short story about this character.
