Dear Parents,
Each week your child will be
coming home with a classroom library
book to read. Your child may or may
not need help reading the book, but it
is encouraged that you listen to your
child read. After your child reads the
book two times they are to complete a
reading response sheet. I want you to
discuss the story with your child, but I
want them to complete the story
response sheet. Each week I will be
individually meeting with your child and
we will re-read the book, go over the
response together and I will have them
choose a new book to take home. The
day your child will be bringing home a
book is ________________. The day I will
be meeting with them each week is on
that same day the following week. If
you have any questions then please
feel free to contact me.

Thank you,

*Teachers*
I have provided a parent progress form
that you can keep in each child’s
reading response homework bag. This is
to be used for parent suggestions and
to let you know if they would like their
child to have an easier/harder book. I
would suggest laminate this and
include a dry erase marker in the bag
so you never have to refill the bag with
this progress paper. Also, if you would
like I have provided mini-pages for
additional comments from parents. I
cut out about 10, cut and staple in the
corner. When a parent writes a
comment it is easy to find in the child’s
bag and all comments are together in
one place throughout the year.
Pictures are provided of these options
on the next page.
