Jumaa Prayer
for the Muslims of Africa and beyond
Intercede with Us for the Muslim World!
The Lord . . . is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance (1 Pe 3:9). To perishto be eternally separated from God. Who can measure the grief and the gravity of this? No matter the hardness of men's hearts, God waits patiently for them to come to Him to receive His grace. A WAAST student noted, We who have lived in slavery to Islam know how great the grace of God is. Let us show and speak of His grace to Muslims whenever we can. God wants them to be with Him forever!

Today's Prayer Requests: Focus on Senegal

A student who was saved out of Islam and who now pastors a church shares information and prayer requests about his West African homeland, Senegal. The first Assemblies of God church in Senegal opened in Tambacounda (central Senegal) in 1957. Fifty-five years later, there are about 50 converts from Islam among the church members, and fewer than 100 AG pastors. Muslims practice a folk Islam, a mixture of African traditional religion, mysticism, and Islamic doctrine. The marabouts, religious leaders, hold much power. Please pray: That the Lord will reveal himself to marabouts and adherents alike through dreams and visions. Such revelations and confrontation with the Word of God draw the attention of these people to the Truth. For spiritual breakthroughs in the marabout towns. Some 15 areas function as states within the State, each ruled by a marabout. On Friday, thousands gather at the mosques. Every year more than 3 million make the pilgrimage to the largest mosque in Touba, Senegal's second city. Schools and churches are banned in these areas, and witnessing of Christ or claiming to be a Christian is not permitted. For the people along the northern border of Senegal, such as the Tokolor and Fulani, and for God's wisdom and guidance in reaching them. The area going north from Tambacounda and along the Senegal River to Saint-Louis on the Atlantic coast has no AG churches. The Assemblies of God of Senegal has designated this the most important missionary zone and is praying for open doors and for workers who are willing to go. For the safety and witness of a young man who has returned to his Muslim town. His father, an imam, tried to kill him when he accepted Christ. He fled and for 2 years was discipled in this students' church. He recently felt he should return, but it is at great risk.

In the News
Please pray concerning the unrest that has arisen around the world in the past week. Muslim reactions to a U.S.produced film, Innocence of Muslims, resulted in at least 30 deaths, violence, and protests in Libya, Egypt, Tunisia, Sudan, Indonesia, Australia, and other nations. The attack in Libya on September 11, in which the U.S. ambassador and 3 others were killed, was a terrorist attack planned ahead of the film-related riots. German and U.K. embassies also came under attack. On Wednesday a cartoon depicting Mohammad was published in France; France has closed its embassies in 20 Muslim nations for the next few days. Pray for God's wisdom for the leaders involved.
