Intercede with Us for the Muslim World!

Jumaa Prayer
for the Muslims of Africa and beyond

'For this is what the Lord has commanded us: I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth. ' When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and honored the word of the Lord, and all who were appointed for eternal life believed (Ac 13:47-48). This command that Paul quoted has not expired; its fulfillment remains the responsibility of every believer. Let's pray for opportunities to shine the light of Jesus before our Muslim neighbors this weeksome will be glad and honor the Word of the Lord!

Today's Prayer Requests: From Students and Alumni

DR CONGO: An alumnus writes, Pray concerning the proliferation of sects, particularly Islam, because of passivity.... Pray for the Decade of Pentecost efforts of the Assemblies of God in Africa as it seeks to raise up 10 million disciples of Christ filled with the Holy Spirit for the last-hour harvest. As Christians are empowered for witness, they will effectively touch the Muslim world. MALI: An alumnus who serves as a missionary in Mali asks us to pray that God strengthen our brothers who have left the north to come south. Pray for all the refugees and the men of God who work among them in the countries of the subregion. Pray also for the authorities at every level. This past week Ansar Dine, MUJAO, and Al-Qaida forces moved southward and attacked an army unit near Mopti, the northern-most town under government control. They were repelled, but people fear further attacks and war. See http://bit.ly/10fi4cg.

In the News
IRAN: Last week we requested prayer for Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani, who was re-arrested on Christmas Day. We thank God for his release this past Monday. Please pray for two members of the same church network who have been detained, for the Lord's favor and peace in this situation. For more information, see http://bit.ly/TH9cHn.

From Global Initiative*

Pray for the 25+ million Muslims of China to have opportunities to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ. The three largest Muslim people groups in China are the Hui (12.5 million), with concentrations in the east near Beijing, central China, and the northwest; the Uyghur (10.7 million); and the Khazakhs (1.7 million). The Uyghur and Khazakhs live mainly in the northwest. There is little witness among them. Most believers in China are Han Chinese and have been geographically and culturally insulated from Muslims. However, many Han Chinese are now moving into the northwest areas. Pray that the Holy Spirit will touch the hearts of believers to reach out to their Muslim neighbors in love and wisdom. Pray that they can establish good relationships; many resent those moving into their territory.

For Muslim Women**

Please pray that Muslim women in less restrictive countries will leave their complacency and their culturally binding belief systems and turn wholeheartedly to Jesus.
