Gain Online Brand Recognition By Taking The Example of Leading Brands

I have a dream. I would like my blog to be as famous as Pepsi is. You may laugh now, Im laughing too it seems (and probably is) impossible. But what do I lose from dreaming? I like writing on my blog. It is like that sort of relaxation that you get when you know that you are writing for your own audience and for your own pleasure. This is the best job that someone can have, a job that they love and that they want to grow beautifully in time. Just like Pepsi does.

The Story of the Kitchen Soda

You probably know that Pepsi had a hard time making itself known and appreciated by people And, of course, it is not as famous as Coca Cola. But what I like the most about them is that they have beautifully overcome their status as the kitchen cola. Yes, Pepsi was the kitchen cola. When they started the rivalry with Coca Cola the Coke giant was already so popular and people loved it, so Pepsi had virtually no choice in front of them. But Coca Cola was more expensive than Pepsi So what people would do when family or guests would visit them was take an empty bottle of Coca Cola and fill it with Pepsi and this was happening, of course, in the kitchen And it wasnt that Pepsi was not as good as Coca Cola. If nobody could tell the difference, it means they were equally good, right? Fifty years had passed since the brand was established, but now Pepsi wanted to be considered a quality brand, not a bargain one. Did they succeed? I would say they did. To see the rest of the story and how the rivalry between Pepsi and Coca Cola grew bigger and bigger until restaurants and bars had to choose to either sell Pepsi or Coca Cola products, click here.

Whats Pepsi doing to ensure it keeps its status of quality brand? And what are you doing?
Besides TV commercials, magazine commercials and all the traditional type of commercials, they are also online, on almost any social platform you can think of. Im proud to tell you that I am there too, but, you see, I am not as famous as Pepsi is. But the good thing is that I am doing almost everything Pepsi is doing in their Social Media marketing campaigns. More or less. What example are you guiding your business after? Is it Pepsi? Is it Coca Cola? Is it a soda company, a car manufacturer or a fast-food? None?!?!? Meet my kitty Alfred. Heres what he has to say to you:

You are doing it wrong. Even Alfie knows it. If you dont know how to achieve success online or how to start and manage your social media marketing campaign, you need someone to take after. Someone whos already in the business for a while and who knows the ins and outs, who has success online and from whom you can learn, and learn, and learn! Lets make my Alfred happy again:

Tips from leading brands that you can implement in your social media marketing campaign
1. Engage followers in conversations
Yep, Pepsi is doing it too. Of course, they are much more popular than you and me and more people tend to answer their questions. Nonetheless, on social media you cannot become famous if you dont communicate with your followers. You dont have to ask them about business-related stuff; just be there, ask them about.. the weather (if something else does not pop into your mind), ask them what are their plans for the holidays, etc. You can use any time of the year to talk about the weather. Like, for example, now would be a good time to ask them: Hows the snow over there? Who can send me a snowman? Its pretty hot in here!, or Goodbye summer, thanks for the memories!. Answer their questions and comment on their comments. Be there.

2. Prompt them to like you

You dont have to be bossy and authoritative and prompt them to like your page and your posts with a Like & share it! message. Be mild, do what Pepsi does:

Who hearts Pepsi the most? see? Clever way to ask for likes and shares! And please notice the results: over 7,500 people like it, over 1600 likes and over 700 comments! Now this is an example I like to take after!

3. Offer exclusive offers for fans only

This is a subject that I develop broadly in this article. To get more info, read it or listen to it there is also an audio version.

4. Ask for feedback from fans

If you have a new article or a new offer for your followers, then ask them about their opinion. You can do this with other pieces of news that you find on the internet and consider related to your field of activity. Whats your opinion about this? is a good starting point.

5. Make use of the power of images

Its social media were talking about. The land of videos and images. So attack the stack! Im sure you have lots of photos to choose from just like I did with Alfreds picture. I simply added a funny message to it and made Alfie my hero kitty, the internet marketing expert.

6. Avoid promos and sales, instead share useful content

People are sick and tired of advertisements. Dont advertise for your business unless you really have something new & interesting to say. But if you have an article on your blog that you think might interest your fans, then my advice is to share it.

Now I pass this to you:

Which is the leading brand that you use as an example in your social media marketing campaign? How are you taking their example and which part of their marketing campaign are you implementing in your business?

Best wishes,
