STUDY OBJECTIVE I focus on the discipline of English language education field study of TESOL (Teaching English to Speaker of Other Language) because my background is educational English and I have practical experiences in teaching English and related education issues. English is neither the first nor second language in Indonesia. People usually learn it in formal school as the 3rd or 4th language after local, Indonesian or Arabic language. Since English is still taught limitedly or even listed as an optional subject, it is a must to learn how to conduct TESOL effectively. There will be many advantages and additional knowledge if I could learn English teaching directly in a country where English is its first or second language. My undergraduate program is educational English; therefore, I will synchronize it with masters degree on the same field: TESOL. In this major, I can get advanced knowledge of teaching English to the speakers of other language including its methodology, approach, and method from first and second languages points of view and different experts. Based on this condition, I need a different approach to teach English that I can develop and implement in my country. Mastery in cultural values is also important to present and understand English in the right context. This is also my reason to take TESOL abroad. Since 2002, I have been teaching English in various fields and specific purposes. I am active in formal and informal English education institutions such as teaching English at State Institute of Islamic Studies (STAIN) Salatiga and LPK (vocational informal education centre). I had taken part in informal activities including English teacher training, document translation, language seminar committee, English course tutor, local partner with English native speakers, English debate and discussion on and off air, etc. Those activities have significantly improved my practical on English. Further, and I ever attended teacher an international seminar assessment some group

discussions. Both refined my theoretical knowledge about language

and education. At the moment, I am teaching at STAIN Salatiga as a nonpermanent lecturer and to be the permanent one, a masters degree is needed. By gaining higher knowledge in English, I can teach more advanced level in English Faculty. STAIN Salatiga has been being evolved to be a university. It develops English Education as a prominent major. In order to get good grades in certification, the Faculty needs to improve all academic aspects; curriculum, management, officers, students, and lecturers. In relation to that issue, the program must be supported by skilful human resources including lecturers as the linemen of the game. In this point, I am in a critical position as I have to transform knowledge, attitude, information I have to generate skilful future teacher. I believe my involvement in educational agenda will share much knowledge to the people. If the hands of time limit my effort to share my knowledge, at least I have commenced everything earlier and will be able to give the best thing I possess.
