In a large sauce pa n, cook the m ilk , butte r and chocolate ove r low he a t until m e lte d. R e m ove from the he a t; le t sta nd for 10 m inute s.

In a large bowl, be at e ggs a nd va nilla; stir in chocolate m ix ture until sm ooth. C om bine the flour, sugar, ba k ing soda and salt; gra dually add to chocola te m ix ture and m ix we ll (ba tte r will be thin). Transfe r to thre e gre a se d and floure d 9-in. round ba k ing pans. Bak e a t 325 for 25-30 m inute s or until a toothpick inse rte d ne ar the ce nte r com e s out cle an. C ool for 10 m inute s be fore re m oving from pans to wire rack s to cool com ple te ly. For filling, in a sm all sauce pan, m e lt butte r and chocolate . Stir in confe ctione rs' sugar and cre am until sm ooth. For ganache , place chocolate in a sm a ll bowl. In a sm a ll sa uce pan, bring cre a m just to a boil. Pour ove r chocolate ; whisk until sm ooth. C ool, stirring occasionally, until gana che re a che s a spre ading consiste ncy. Place one cak e laye r on a se rving pla te ; spre ad with half of the filling. R e pe at laye rs. Top with re m a ining cak e laye r. Spre a d ga nache ove r top and side s of cak e . Store in the re frige ra tor. Yield: 16 se rvings.

Gue sts sa id it taste d lik e som e thing you'd e at a re staurant! I'm not a huge fan of cak e , and I thought it was de licious!! I didn't use the frosting/filling though. I use d the "Glossy C hocolate Frosting R e cipe " (Ta ste of Hom e , Light & Tasty) a s the filling and icing inste a d. It wa s fabulous on this ca k e !
