OATSS (Okanagan Active Transportation Society) Draft Final Terms of Reference: January 29, 2013. 1.

Our Mission We are a partnership - Okanagan citizens, governments, academics, businesses - passionate about ways to educate, advocate, and facilitate more sustainable travel habits and modes in the Okanagan Valley, operating within the respective limits of our more formal (professional) and less formal (private citizens) roles and responsibilities. 2. Membership Open to everyone that supports and works toward the OATSS mission, eventually we might need a leadership group as we grow. 3. The goal is to promote active transportation and create healthier communities by: 1. Educating and sharing experiences and success stories, and lessons learned from false starts. Facts, figures. Be a virtual clearing house for sharing and educating. 2. Promoting active transportation, using credible information on the whats and whys of sustainable transportation at the community level. 3. To raise awareness of the benefits and potential of active transportation community-wide, by creating collaborative partnerships across all sectors. 4. Our Meetings We meet roughly every 2 months Format: 90 minutes, sharing the latest on our initiatives, agendas flexible. Diversify & expand membership: i. We are RDCO-weighted in representation, only by the fact so much is happening here already, but we hope over time this will even out to a fuller valley-wide representation. ii. Pursue participation by local governments (e.g. cities, regional districts) 4. Member Info Sheets All members, please prepare a MAX 1 pager that we can post your name, contact info, AT-related initiatives that you are involved with, web/Facebook links. 5. Executive Reconsider formalizing society via an elected executive in 2014. 6. BSC Workshop Deliver a workshop on history, goals, accomplishments, lessons learned (OATS story); Visions of Success (OATS future); Action Plan (OATS 2014).
