Assignment 2
List down some problems and difficulties commonly encountered during internship. MT Interns The first problem they encounter is the adjustment from school-setting to real hospital-setting. Another is the exhaustion caused by going back to school from their duty (especially when they are assigned to night duties) even though they lack sleep, for the in-house review for the board exams or to attend seminars. Because of this, they are having a hard time to pass the revalida exams. In the internship, they also have to be in good terms and have to socialize well with the laboratory staff. They encounter some staffs or co-interns that are difficult to deal with. Clinical Instructors/ICs The clinical instructors are held responsible with the interns, so whenever the interns encounter problems, they also have to deal with these problems. They also have to give their time from school because they need to hold center visits in hospitals to look after their interns.
Head/Dean/Assistant Dean of MT Department

The Head of the Medical Technology Department will be one of those who will assign on where the students will conduct their internship. Along with the dean and the assistant dean, they will be also held responsible with the interns. Whenever an intern commits a major offense in his/her work (e.g. disciplinary issues, frequent tardiness or absences), the center where the intern is assigned will discuss it to the clinical instructors. After discussing the situation to the clinical instructor, the instructor will further discuss it with them. Then, they have to look after the interns and talk to their parents. Whatever the intern does is reflected on them, because it is the intern who represents the school.
