Family Support Services Work (Queensland) Skill Set Provide Support

A 2013 Professional Development Program for the Community Sector Workforce


This workshop provides a set of skills for delivery of services that support families in the community. This includes those working with children, young people and families. It focuses on enhancing skills in assessing a range of client issues and examines appropriate referral pathways. It also assists participants in defining worker and organisation boundaries and in utilising a person centred and holistic approach. It explores the issues of safety and wellbeing of children and families and provides some insights into the effects of trauma on families. The Family Support Skill set includes four units of competency from the CHC08 Community Services Training Package which are listed below. These units may be used as credit towards a number of community sector qualifications at Certificate IV level or above. CHCCS422B Respond holistically to client issues and refer appropriately CHCCOM403A Use targeted communication skills to build relationships CHCRF402B Provide intervention support to children and families CHCCHILD403B Promote the safety, wellbeing and welfare of children, young people and their families Have you ever said?
I just dont know what other services are available out there Families have such complex issues it is hard to know where to start I am often confused about where to draw the line especially as I live and work in a small community. I want a better understanding of what trauma is and how it impacts on the children and families I work with.

The cost of the three day workshop includes facilitators and all resources for the Skill Set. Following completion of the 3 day workshop and successful submission of assessment items, participants will be issued with a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment. This program follows on from the Disability Services and Community Services Skilling Plan.
