Dear Families,
As we move toward increasing warmer temperatures, there have been days that we have experienced problems with the AC cooling all areas of the school building. We are strongly encouraging students to dress in layers, since classrooms can be chilly or warm at times. Even with the changes in temperatures, students must still abide by the schools dress code even as they remove layers. MVMPCS will be having their end of the year family picnic on May 31st at 3:00PM. The picnic will be held at the Clover Hill Community Park again this year. Come enjoy a relaxing time with our school community. The Outreach Committee has sent invitations for all of our new families to attend the picnic as well. Tonight our Middle School Chorus will be performing at Frederick High School. The performance begins at 7:00PM. This is a joint concert with West Frederick Middle and Frederick High School Choruses. Just a reminder, MVMPCS is closed on Monday, May 27th for the Memorial Day holiday. Have a long and restful weekend. Cita

2 HOUR EARLY DISMISSAL ON LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!

Students will be dismissed at 12:45 p.m. on Friday, June 14 to begin summer break! (Please note this new day and new time due to the MSDE exemption.) Lunch will be served on an early schedule. There will be no After Care. Enjoy a relaxing, restful and safe summer. Students return to school on Monday, August 19.

7TH GRADE FIELD TRIP - MAY 30 Attention Parents of 7th Grade Students: Students will need to arrive at 8:15 next Thursday, May 30th for the Future Links field trip. The bus departs MVMPCS at 8:30 a.m. and returns by 11:30 a.m. Lunch will be at school. YEARBOOK ORDERS DUE NEXT THURSDAY Students, its time to order your 2012-13 MVMPCS yearbook. Forms were sent home last week, but extras are available at school. The cost is $20 per yearbook. Checks can be made payable to: Lifetouch. Order forms are due to your childs teacher by May 30.

PAGE 2 IMPORTANT NEWS FROM THE HEALTH ROOM: ATTENTION PARENTS/GUARDIANS: School is scheduled to close June 14, 2013. Students are not permitted to take their medications home at the end of the school year (FCPS Regulation 400-23). An adult must pick up all medications currently in the health room by the end of the school day on June 14, 2013. Medication remaining in the health room will be destroyed on June 14th by 2:00 p.m. PREPARING FOR THE 2013-2014 SCHOOL YEAR Medication/Treatment Orders from your Health Care Provider: The appropriate medication/treatment authorization form(s) must be renewed at the beginning of each school year. Forms are available online at www.fcps.org or at your childs school. Please be aware of the expiration date on the pharmacy label when bringing the medication to the health room with the new authorization form. School health staff will determine medication expiration by the date printed on the pharmacy label. Note EpiPens, Diastat, Glucagon and inhalers have an expiration date printed on the container in addition to the pharmacy label. Therefore the container expiration date must be equal to or exceed the expiration date on the pharmacy label. Please make sure the expiration date on the individual medication container exceeds the expiration date on the label before leaving the pharmacy. To help make your childs first day a success, please submit all completed forms and medications to the health room during the week of August 12, 2013 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. This will give school health staff time to make sure the forms and medications are correct in preparation for your childs first day of school. Please do not send in medications with your child to school. It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to arrange for the safe delivery of medication to the school health room.
