NO MORE HEROES FILM INFORMATION Director/Producer/Writer/Editor: Andrew Moore Co Producer/Editor: Daren King Camera: Stuart Page/ Andrew Moore Starring: Peter Boronski, Grant Macredie, Victor Viskovich, Frank Edwards, Sean Kerrigan, Lee Ralph and others. Narrated by Graham Brazier Duration: 85 minutes Colour: Super 8, DVcam No More Heroes is a bittersweet tribute to the asphalt desperadoes of Aotearoa in the 1970s who took skateboarding from a fun pursuit into a full-blown national phenomenon. It tracks down the key players in the story- the top skaters, the manufacturers, the designers and photographers, and finds out exactly what happened. It is also a film about being young and obsessed with one thing- a Skateboard. The collection of rare and unique footage includes that of Manukau's legendary skatepark Skatopia being opened by Rob Muldoon and visited by international teen superstar and actor Leif Garrett. "This film will appeal to everyone, skaters and non-skaters, young and old alike. No one has really made a documentary that focuses on what young New Zealanders were doing in the 70s. The totally daggy kiwiana, moments are the best. The fashions are just rocking. You'd have to be dead not to get a kick out of the footage!" - Andrew Moore, 2006. Andrew Moore is a former 1970's New Zealand junior skateboarding champ who grew up in Birkenhead on Auckland's North Shore. His background includes a series of underground skateboarding videos and fanzines released in the early 90's under the 'Yeah Bo' banner. Since then he has made music videos for bands such as the 3'ds, Loves Ugly Children, the Exponents, Voom, Street Chant, Nothing At All! and the D4. His first film was 'Busker', a short documentary on 64-year-old street musician John Hartles. Andrew was the Producer/Director on the tv2 action sports programme Primo Freerider. No More Heroes is his first feature.
